“He Wants to Leave” West Ham Hit by Bombshell as Mavropanos Exit Revealed

Sky Germany’s top transfer specialist has revealed within the last hour that Konstantinos Mavropanos could be set to leave West Ham at the end of the season.

Florian Plettenberg will be well known to Hammers fans, having broken multiple transfer stories during Tim Steidten’s time at the club — so when he speaks, it’s usually worth listening.

First real suggestion player wants out

Rumours around Mavropanos’ future have been bubbling away over the past 48 hours, but this is the first time anyone has suggested the player himself is pushing for a move.

And that’s the bit that raises eyebrows.

Dortmund interest adds weight

Posting on X, Plettenberg said:
“Konstantinos Mavropanos is set to leave West Ham this summer as he is seeking a new challenge.

28-year-old has delivered top performances consistently over the past few months, attracting interest from both the Bundesliga and the Premier League.

Borussia Dortmund have discussed him internally in recent weeks. Potential deal could be difficult as his price is expected to be very high.”

Bad news for West Ham: Sky Germany have said Dinos wants to leave

Timing couldn’t be worse

If true, it’s a big blow.

Mavropanos has arguably been one of West Ham’s standout performers in recent weeks, and the last thing the club need right now is uncertainty around one of their most in-form players.

West Ham are unlikely to comment publicly, especially at this stage of the season.

But given Plettenberg’s links to Steidten — the man who brought Mavropanos to the club — you’d suspect there could be something in it.

Even if, as always, it’s a situation that may evolve quickly.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

I started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

I give West Ham opinions and interviews on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus. Former video and content creator for West Ham United back in the days of Upton Park. I was lucky enough to feature in the documentary broadcast on that final wonderful game at the Boleyn when Winston Reid broke Manchester United hearts.

I frequently feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

More West Ham moaning is done on a daily basis here 👇👇

Gonzo mate if you’re on board with the DoF model (as am I) then you need to embrace the sell high and replace principles of it too.

We’ve been awful at learning when to sell, sell Dino get decent money and replace with someone 21 or 22.

Hate to say it but we should be thinking the same with Bowen which would be a very unpopular view point with fans.

  • Mick bering says:

Gonzo this is all psychological people outside the club putting stories about try to unsettle the team it’s about trying to get us to lose team spirit and start arguments in the team ignore it

  • Macephtopheles says:

I’m honestly not all that bothered about it, really.

Don’t get me wrong, last few games he’s been absolutely fantastic but he spent the previous 2 and a half seasons with the majority worried to see him on the teamsheet expecting a mistake or few to happen.

After all, before Disasi was alongside him, when it Mavro, Todibo and Kilman then heading into January the general consensus was we need at least one, preferably two, central defenders brought in. So he was pretty much expected/hoped to be replaced so if we can get a profit and he wants to go, don’t think it’d be that big a deal.

  • Iron57 says:

It’s easier to name the players that aren’t being linked with a move away. Agents are on a fishing expedition and news outlets with little to report are speculating at best. Until the summer, there’s nothing to see here. Move on.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

If it’s true are the key words. Mav seems to live it here but if we have to sell at the end of the season and he is worth more than we paid he will probably be sold, we have Todibo and the money for Mav might get Disasi ?

    You smell horses Rodney

  • Tony Pezzolesi says:

So that is why his performances have improved beyond all recognition

  • Diggy says:

If he doesn’t want to be here and play for us fine, we have to start disasi and Todibo on Monday and leave him out of the squad. I don’t ever want any player to play for us if they dont have their heart in it especially when we are in the mess we are in. Sell him and move on in the summer no player is bigger than the club and the fans deserve better than this especially at this crucial time in the season.

  • baz says:

his contract is till 2028 if we stay up we hold the power if anyone wants him 65m plus for him so glad he has turned his form around, been a wall this 2nd half of the season. plus we can offer him a new deal if he would take that

  • Phil Baker says:

It’s not worth selling him unless Westham get 35=40 million , which won’t happen .

  • Richard says:

If he continues to perform and wants to leave at the end of the season then fine. We’ll get the best out of him and maybe, just maybe, it funds our bid for Disasi.

Equally, wouldn’t put it past Steiden leaking something like this to try and derail the end of season push.

  • cribz says:

the bloke has been very poor for nearly 2 years, now has been playing the best form of his west ham career for the last couple of months, under a manager and coach that suite him, suddenly he wants off 🙂

good luck mate, thanks for the terrible timing, at least we will get our money back +

  • pat says:

Why Worry? he is still here and hopefully he keeps up the good form and we stay up….If he goes his price will of soared and that can be a bonus…..Players come and go always will and you no there is always someone else who will come along and we can get behind….Mav goes that’s fine we wish him well but wait and see Gonzo as he is a West ham player right now with work to do.
