Nailing down ‘shortlisted’ candidates for the head coach role at West Ham is challenging indeed for the club. More so in the current state of hiatus whereby inactivity rules, and nobody can say 100% when, or even if, the head coach role will be vacant.
Rumour has it that West Ham were turned down last week by Edin Terzic.
New names are mentioned and then equally, some are just as quickly discounted. So many clubs seeking to recruit at present from the same ‘pool’ of coaching talent may well be why the Hammers board have not acted yet to dismiss Lopetegui, since David Sullivan is well known for lining up the next coach before firing the outgoing one.
Just today, two separate sources confirmed (in their opinions) that Massimiliano Allegri, former Juventus manager, is one candidate on the shortlist as ‘definitely possible’ at London Stadium. Which is a surprise as he has well-known pretty huge salary demands.
Alex Crook on his twitterX account today suggested :“Max Allegri among the potential replacements #WHUFC have spoken to but he does not want to come in mid-season.”
Which might explain the six month contract rumours for other stop-gap appointments.
At the same time, foottalia confirm that: “Allegri between West Ham and Roma” as the Italian club’s Vice President Ryan Friedkin is tasked with appointing a successor to current coach Claudio Ranieri. If West Ham dither, Roma may pounce to offer Allegri a role next summer, thwarting West Ham’s efforts.
The best don’t stay available for long.
Not convinced Allegri would suit West Ham or the Premiership.
