The performance by Stephen Hendrie in the three nil victory over Coventry City at the weekend at Roots Hall was enough to earn him a place in the coveted Football League team of the week.
The West Ham loanee left back excelled for Southend during his home debut, causing havoc down the left-hand side in the Shrimpers’ 3-0 win over Coventry City. Hendrie assisted Jack Payne and Tyrone Barnett who both scored.
Hendrie tweeted after the victory:
“What a Result from the boys great 3 points happy to get 2 assists gutted about not been on scoresheet tho Fans were Class #playoffpush“
The highly rated left-back, who arrived from Hamilton in a £1m move during the summer after signing a pre-contract was allowed to join Southend on 31 day loan.
Former Hammer Kevin Nolan was also included in the Football League team of the week bagging himself the manager position. The new Leyton Orient player/manager has won two games out of two keeping clean sheets on both occasions.
If we do manage to qualify for europe next year then we are going to need these guys when we have to play two games in a week. Its great that they are getting competitive football
Great for the lad to get some playing time, just another of our loaners that prove how good they are when they play,so hard for the boy to break through with Creesie playing well most of the time, hope he does not leave but puts pressure on others to get into the first team
