Well, West Ham United may have finished the transfer window with a whimper, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Hammers did at least get one deal over the line.
Axel Disasi has signed on the dotted line from Chelsea on loan for the remainder of the season, following a fraught set of negotiations that dragged on throughout deadline day.
Presumably, the Frenchman — who cost Chelsea around £30 million when he joined from AS Monaco — will go straight into the squad following the suspension of Jean-Clair Todibo.
Posting on X, Romano wrote:
“Axel Disasi to West Ham, here we go! Deal completed in time and now all approved.
Understand West Ham and Chelsea have agreed all terms of loan deal until end of the season.
Medical done earlier and documents now ok.”
A Window That Saved, Not Spent
It brings a distinctly underwhelming transfer window to a close, one in which West Ham have effectively saved money rather than spent in a genuine bid for Premier League survival.
Disasi is not considered match-fit and will need time to acclimatise, but there is hope he will see more minutes than Igor Julio, who was sent back to Brighton & Hove Albion last week.
Whether this late addition proves enough remains highly questionable. What is clear is that West Ham’s deadline-day business has once again left everyone dissapointed as the club appeared to impliment a sell to buy policy.

Yet another wasted transfer window and a critical one to at least try and stay a premiership club.
It’s extraordinary Sullivan still thinks he’s the man to be the DoF and run the club.
If we had got a couple of decent CBs when we got the two forwards things could be so different now.
Add some actual creative energetic flair (not Adama) to replace Pacqueta and provide cover again things could be do much better.
As it is Sullivan has continued to screw up transfer window opportunities which coupled with his terrible manager recruitment has taken us from winning a European trophy to being one of the worst teams in the league.
Somehow the management structure of the whole club needs to become much more professional and focused on clear repeatable objectives.
Instead of an old man’s hobby get proper proven professionals to do a proper professional job.
He looks as miserable to be a hammer as the fans are with him joining. I hope he proves me wrong but a low quality player who isnt match fit isnt exactly what we all wanted. What a disappointment this window has been. We all knew what we needed to do in this window and whu have failed miserably. I wonder if there wefe any decent players willing to join us. Wasted opportunity

Underwhelmed is an understatment.
This window had been the final nail in the coffin as far as premier league status goes.
At least next season we wont have our games scheduled around what suits liverpool, man utd or arsenal.
