West Ham look set to announce their latest new recruit today after something of a scare yesterday.

Reports began circulating late in the afternoon that Monaco’s Soungoutou Magassa was having second thoughts about joining the Hammers following interest from Frankfurt.

The story quickly gathered momentum, with fans understandably fearing West Ham were about to botch yet another transfer. After all, with failed attempts to land the likes of Jacob Ramsey already wasting valuable recruitment time, many supporters have come to expect complications.

Transfer reports got it wrong

Soungoutou Magassa practice skills ahead of transfer to West Ham

Magassa’s transfer to West Ham was delayed

But now, most sources are aligning with what Claret & Hugh reported last night — the Magassa deal is going ahead. Panic set in because the versatile Frenchman took longer to sign than expected, which inevitably fuelled conspiracy theories.

As we revealed yesterday, however, the delay was caused by a technical issue during his medical, meaning the process had to be restarted.

With that now resolved, Magassa’s move should be completed — and fans will be hoping it’s the first of several arrivals as the clock ticks down on the transfer window.

Great news but know all we have to hope is that he is better than Potters other choices

If most or say several, of the names being mentioned make it into the squad, Potter might just have a chance of saving his bacon. My aim is to bring back as many old-fashioned expressions as possible.

Whoever comes in I hope he plays Callum Marshall, because he is different, like a terrier on a pitch, harassing, closing down non stop. Not on his own of course, nor the whole 90 mins but say 50mins, but bring somebody on like that, it is a big tactical switch. Passes to Fulkurg, or balls in behind for Callum, high pressing, etc. Too inexperienced to be counted on as a regular goal scorer, but not important, he would bring a lot onto a pitch beside this. Fulkrug, Pqaueta & Bowen would all be able to play him in or off of him. Anyway, I have convinced myself of this.😊

Having said this, he probably should go out on loan to progress further. You don’t want a lad like that bored on the bench, when he could be scoring goals in a lower league and keeping his career on trac

Agree with you mate, need some pace upfront, someone who’ll run in behind. We’re so slow in midfield and attack (or in transition as they say these days), too easy to defend against.

Commentator WHU vs Wolves said in the first half it was like watching a testimonial it was so slow & no action.

Great news wish him well but one signing won’t be enough . The board must get another midfielder, striker and defender . Not much time left have to move quickly.
