Here’s what’s expected versus Saints

|

Southampton come visiting tomorrow following their stunning win over Arsenal.

But Hammers hopes remain high that we can get a much needed win.

Here’s what Hammers fans are hoping for from the game.

Needs to be 3 points. Don’t get me wrong with all the injuries at least we’re not losing games but even though we’re picking up points with 4 draws we’re heading the wrong way down the table. Need 3 points to get back on track

Need a win for confidence 🙅🏻 COYI

HAS to be a win, but I can’t see it, as our attackers seem incapable of scoring.

Hopefully Antonio will come good

Not too fussed about the result. The last two games we’ve made very poor sides look like world beaters. I want to see a performance tomorrow

Three points required. Hoping the saints will be cocky.
A point is acceptable against a strong Southampton team who just destroyed Arsenal……however I would take a strong performance and no injuries lol

Has to be a win, if we lose we drop into the bottom half of the table, but if we play like we have been playing it will be difficult.

I think we play better against decent sides, so looking for a MUST win, COYI’s!

After their 4-0 trouncing of Arsenal yesterday, and the possibility of a Lanzini and Carroll return looming, we could nick the 3 points if the Saints are high on confidence.

Love 3pts but with the players out I’d settle for the draw, at least we’ve tightened up at the back. I think the saints will be our 26th competitive match??

Our aim at the start was to make sure we weren’t playing in the championship when we move. We have done amazing to ensure that. Another point tomorrow will not be a disaster.

Only acceptable result is a win. More important that we play well, show some attacking confidence and the ressult will come
I’m hoping that when all our playmakers and first teamers are back we can go on a winning run. At least we know the squad when fit are capable of it. Everyone is having up and down periods. At least so far without our playmakers we are not losing games which in the past would have been a certainty.

Also I wonder how much yesterday took out of the saints players they may not be so fluid and energetic tomoz!

Its also clear that SB will not rush players back to the team only to be pulled up again.

Agree John.Noble is slow in movement & decision making and Zarate is a one trick pony too easily disposed off the ball. They looked good when Payet & Lanzini lifted the midfield.Too much is left to the likes of Kouyate who is a stellar player.I love the comment about our supporters turning a blind eye.Yes on form the Hammers are in trouble against the Saints.I can’t see a win either but will settle for a point again.IMHO

Haven’t been entertained since the Chelsea game .
It seems also that the refs and all in sundrie are gunning for us ?
But that said the current side playing have no tempo or urgency going forward and the same can be said of the midfield in defensive mode , they do not press players or close down quick enough . We are as I said having a tough time in all aspects of our game time , we have played two of the poorest teams on form in the league to date and made them look like
Fantastic teams ! Noble was marked as a 7 again in the media ? Also zarate ? Its obvious to everyone that noble , zarate , kouyate , are not performing but supporters are turning a blind eye to that fact !
If it wasn’t for the heroics at the back against poor opposition we would have been beaten on many occasions ! I can’t see our luck holding out much longer a against better opposition, grin and bear it lads and keep you’re fingers and legs crossed ,
Bilic must be wondering what the **** has happened to his / our side with all the injury’s
So far, I will back our manager to the hilt even if we end up in a battle down below .
But some players need to move on for the good of the team in the summer and players brought in of a better calibre if we are to progress as we would like to !
Need a win tommorow but can’t see it coming as the saints are a different ball game to the last two games ! Fingers crossed then !!

I would like a win but no loss will be acceptable with the team we are putting out at the moment,
More important is to carry on entertaining our fans playing good football,
All last year I heard the Hippo fans screaming respect the point and now playing better football that is exactly what they are getting,
4 defeats in 18 games is a brilliant start to Slav,s management,we are a couple of wins away from Europe, and now with players returning a good cup run,
The Ref took 3 points off us yesterday, their pen was 50/50 with their player pulling first and the going down for a pen,
Song,s chip on to a direct hand ball was a stone cold Pen,
No we did not play well but Enner looked like he was becoming match fit and Song,
It’s not all doom and gloom

Carry on entertaining our fans playing good football? Sorry but I strongly disagree with you there. We have had appallingly bad games especially at home. We have been leaving games muttering that some of the performances were worse than under Fatty. I fear a relegation battle is coming our way

I’ve just read elsewhere that Valencia is getting a lot of criticism with people saying that West Ham have wasted their money on him – I must say I’ve got some sympathy with that view!

The occasional good free kick is not much return for the outlay!

      • Roman says:

Michael I would keep Valencia. He has pace which Noble doesn’t have and has been out with injury quite a bit.Definite asset.

  • Michael Miller says:

Here’s what’s expected against Saints? The right answer is ‘who knows!’ – with virtually all teams results being all over the place, anything could happen!

What I would say is that we’ve got no attack and therefore won’t score many goals – Southampton have a couple of good players in Wanyama and Mane and Long is lively – you can see where I’m going with this!

The thing about West Ham is that whatever you say they revel in proving you wrong – I make the Saints favourites but another draw is the likely result!

  • jaybs says:

Lanzini returning may help, but Carroll time he was sold, get whatever we can just to get him off the wage bill, he simply will not fit with Bilic’s style.
