Hero Arnie makes his former fans sick in fine win

arnau2Stoke City 0 West Ham 3

Perfect result against a poor team which has lifted the Irons into 15th place and growing in confidence big time.

Marko Arnautovic made an inspiring return to his old stomping ground silencing the terraces with a goal and a performance they would die for at this moment.

Mark Noble had opened the scoring with a penalty in 17 minutes after Lanzini had been brought down by Eric Pieters.

The Irons were rarely troubled by Mark Hughes’ outfit and could have gone further ahead when Arnautovic was denied on the angle by the goalkeeper before Lanzin saw a 25 yard effort held by Butland.

Arnie had a massive chance a little later when he fired over the top from close in after great work down the left by Ctesswell and Masuaku.

Next he smashed a ball against the woodwork but finally got his his reward when he slotted a ball past Butland after great work with Lanzoni.

And substitute Sakho sealed a so needed victory when Lanzin slotted a ball in and the striker confidently netted to reduce out horrible goal difference to -15.

The Hammers never needed to be great to win a victory which we had all claimed was a must win affair but the relief is palpable and the confidence continues to grow and grow.

  1. lanzini was phenomenal in the final third, however I am expecting a ban that could cost us dearly for the next two crucial matches. Can’t see who can step in for him and create

  2. I listened to it on the radio so can’t judge but the commentators were raving about what a great match it was with chances on both sides including Sakho and Arnie who could both have had hatricks, Sakho missing a couple of absolute sitters, looking forward to watching some highlights COYI !!!
