Hints dropped for next season’s West Ham kits

|

Next season’s kit will remember famous West Ham kits of yesteryear according to EXWHUEmployee speaking on West Ham Way podcast.

The Home kit is said to a modern replica of the 1999-2001 Claret kit with Blue-collar worn by Paolo Di Canio

This home kit abandoned the blue sleeves and instead introduced a light blue band down each sleeve and white vertical piping. The collar also featured an  new button design.

Shorts: White with claret side panels and thin blue piping, Fila logo and club badge.

Socks: Claret topped off with blue and two thin claret stripes.

The away kit is the dark blue kit also from 1999-2001 also worn by Paolo DiCanio

The first all-navy blue kit. The minimalist design featured a white and light blue trim, with the only inclusion of claret being on the club badge.

Shorts: Navy with club badge and Fila logo

Socks: Navy with light blue crossed Hammers and Fila logo

The third kit is said to be a replica of the 1991-1992 away kit which was an unorthodox blue and white striped away kit for the time.

Shorts: Claret with blue and white chevron side panels, club badge and Bukta logos to front.

Socks: Blue topped off with two claret stripes

The ‘Argentina’ stripes with claret trim and shorts looked great – and you’re right, a lot of people wore that in the early 90’s. If it’s coming back, I’m all for it.

Collars – yuk! This kit is not proportionate in my view – always hated the sleeve stripe. Claret body, blue sleeves, white shorts why mess with that? Last years retro kit accompanied a horrible season – not that I’m superstitious, touch wood!!

Totally agree with you. A West Ham shirt without sky blue sleeves doesn’t do it for me. I liked the first ‘Avco’ shirt of 1983-84 …..and a revival of that one would be great if we have to go retro.

Please. No collar! Brighton’s players look like they’re about to take off with theirs flapping about when they run.

I still have an 80s shirt with the piping and Doc Martens logo.

  • We wore the 1980 FA Cup Final kit only last season as the away strip Russell Burke. The Blue & White stripes were very popular and still sells very well if you can find an original version.
