History beckons and Rice is ready

England will be heading for a confrontation with an on-fire Cristiano Ronaldo should they overcome the Netherlands in their Nations League semi final tonight.

Ronaldo grabbed a hat-trick in last night’ other semi final against Switzerland as Portugal triumphed 3-1 to take their place in the final.

Portugal manager Fernando Santos hailed the 34 year old as a genius after his 25th, 88th and 90th minute goals had clinched his team’s place.

However, the Hammers defensive midfielder Declan Rice is confident as the Three Lions step out for their game  tonight looking for a trophy for the first time since 1966 when led of course by Mooro.

England are slight favourites for a game which is probably to tight to call for betting purposes but Declan is convinced the national team are ready for a “massive” moment in the history of our international game in this country.

Discussing the game with whufc.com he said: “It’s massive, not only for me, but the whole squad and the nation.

It’s the first Nations League and a chance to win a trophy for England – the first time since 1966. So that’s massive for us as a nation, the players are aware of that and we’re looking to go out there and do the business.

“We beat Croatia to get to the Nations League finals and we put in a great performance against Spain, and I’m sure we’re going to do that again against Holland.

We’re working on things that we’re going to try and replicate on match day and we’re confident of that.”
