West Ham’s summer signing Jean Clair Todibo is set to start in tonight’s game against Liverpool, but reports are emerging regarding why his inclusion has taken so long.
The French international and former Barcelona defender was pursued by the Hammers all summer, and we eventually beat Juventus to secure his signing. However, he has been seen less than the Loch Ness Monster since joining West Ham on a loan transfer with a view to a permanent £35M move from Nice.
Initial reports suggested that Julen Lopetegui did not consider him tough enough for the Premier League—a viewpoint confirmed to C&H by a top club source.
It is now being suggested that Todibo has been under special instruction to improve his fitness levels, prompting the question: just how unfit was he? Given how infrequently he has featured for the Hammers, one can only assume that he was less fit than the injured Edson Alvarez, who didn’t even participate in pre-season training.
Presumably, that is why Todibo looked so sluggish in his only start against Bournemouth in the previous round of the Carabao Cup. Let’s hope he’s been on the treadmill plenty and has gotten up to speed for tonight’s game at Anfield because he is far too talented to spend the season on the bench.
A football player has one thing to do and that’s be match fit . Hopefully Todibo’s failure to transfer to Man United or Juventus isn’t affecting his drive to play for Westham . 25 million on Fulkrug , 25 million on Guillerme , 35 million on Todibo are all looking like
money flushed away . Westham have some donkeys and a kid and a serial loser in Lopetegui . Will do well to avoid relegation .
All this doom and gloom is a joke we are still waiting for the team to gel together that’s not going to happen overnight yes I saw fans leaving 20mins before the end they are the bring back moyes section of fans when we played Man City ok we lost but for the first time we actually took them on and they didn’t like it do we really want to go back to playing a style of football that would send us all asleep I don’t think so ????
This gloom is getting ridiculous.
At the time of playing Chelsea they were the third of three teams we’d played at home who were in the top four. It would have been difficult to have chosen a more difficult three games to start at home with.
We’d beaten Palace away, and Bournemouth at home in the league cup, and drawn away with Fulham. All of this while integrating new players and starting with a new system.
We lost games that most teams would lose, the whole thing about the top four is that they win most of their games, that’s why they’re the top four.
Liverpool away isn’t going to be easy either even though they probably will rotate, they’re also top four.
Ahhh John, stop being the reasonable adult in the room.
This forum is about premature, rash, reactions, screaming for change”!
Your sort have no place here…. xxx
My feelings exactly, John
