How Sevilla fared ahead of Hammers clash

|

Sevilla again laboured to a draw at the weekend ahead of their Europa League second leg showdown with West Ham.

The Spanish side remain in second in La Liga but they have slipped 10 points behind leaders Real Madrid, while third-placed Barcelona are five points behind with a game in hand.

Sevilla will surely have hoped to build some momentum ahead of the second leg, having won the first 1-0 in Spain.

But they were instead held to a 1-1 draw by Rayo Vallecano, with Thomas Delaney scoring an equaliser after ex-Manchester United flop Bebe opened the scoring.

It is their fifth successive draw away from home; they have not actually won on the road in the league since January 3rd.

Interestingly, Sevilla were also beaten by Dinamo Zagreb when they went on the road in the last round of the Europa League, losing 1-0, but progressing because they won the home leg 3-1.

There is undoubtedly a glimmer of hope for the Hammers here.
