How the Hammers rated

|

darren-randolph-slaven-bilic-west-ham-liverpool_3408177Hugh hands out his ratings

Randolph :  No blame attached for the goals – saveed a pen and made three or four great stops 7

Kouyate: Run of the mill but tried to get forward   5

Fonte: Uncertain and nervous…it spread across the back line 4

Reid: Not on his game at the start, tried to make his presence felt but had the worst of many battles 5

Cresswell: Worst performance for a long time if not his worst ever 3

Noble: Should have been sent off for a reckless tackle and little to speak of apart from that 4

Feghouli: Terrible positioning caused first pen, recovered to produce a great assist for goal but lightweight for me 6

Obiang: Some great slide rule passes in a game where Cheerries defence dominated 6

Lanzini: Fine performance particularly in second half – he made whatever happened happen 7

Antonio: Great goal – ceaseless running…hurt shoulder but as would be expected carried on 6

Carroll: Largely anonymous and still not up to fitness speed 4

SUBS

Byram: Looked good and played important assist for equaliser 6

Snodgrass: Not the Scotsman’s day like his rugby counterparts 4

Ayew: Scored the equaliser  – gave away the winner for Bournemouth 5

Haven’t you missed out Fehgouli? He’s improving but still too light weight. Ayew or Snoddy should have started in his place.

Would like to see Ayew given more game time – always in the right place for the tap in like a good poacher, despite having less than 30 minutes per game.

Noble is getting worse week on week . Should have been sent of and contributed absolutely nothing . Cresswell needs a rest and Carroll is a waste of time if we don’t get the ball in the box .

Noble should not have been sent off, he should never have gotten the first booking so talk of a second yellow is nonsense. Noble was not the reason we lost this game.

Randolph 7 Made some solid saves and could not prevent the goals.
Kouyate 2 Never a right back and I think is holding back from his best to force manager to put him in his proper position
Fonte 5 Decent enough but was worried about the pace of Bournemouth
Reid 6 Tough early on but found the pace of Bournemouth tough
Cresswell 2 You would think it was him playing out of position, pulled out of tackles, no quaility going forward. Time for a new left back in the summer?
Noble 5 Harshly critised and think we looked less defensively balanced once he came off. With Kouyate and Obiang not sure he fits in the middle of the pitch.
Obiang 6 Was fighting fires on his own virtually after Noble came off and showed some touches of class.
Feghouli 5 Clearly Slavs signing but how he keeps Snodgrass and Ayew out of the side is baffling. OK going forward but defensivly a liability,
Antonio 7 Worked hard and played out of position centrally, once he went wide looked far better
Lanzini 7 If he had stayed on the left it would of been a score of 5, but centrally oozes class and HAS to play there.
Carroll 6 Hard one this, worked hard and showed some nice touches. Zero service, no crosses whatsoever so how will he score or have chances with no service? Combine that with the ref giving a foul every time he won a ball and them being allowed to foul him all the place, it was a tough day at the office!

Noble is the fundamental reason we lost not only because he is playing poorly but also because Bilic refuses to drop him and play people in their right positions . If Noble was not there Kouyate would revert to midfield with Obiang which is a no brainer . Bilic should have insisted that we buy a proper right back . We have not had one for at least 2 years .

You win as a team and lose as a team, collectively we don’t defend its as simple as that from the moment Song stopped being a part of the team we haven’t had a decent defensive performance, the players attack in numbers which I am all for but they seem oblivious that they have to t least have an eye out for a counter attack, time and again we lose to goals on the counter, Lanzini has developed a bit of a Payet trait where if he loses the ball he makes no effort to get it back, this stuff should be drilled into them in training its easy enough to practice.
