BBC1 will be broadcasting a documentary entitled ‘The Olympic Stadium: How the Hammers struck Gold’ on Thursday evening 6th August at 7pm in the London TV region. It will also be available on Sky Channel 954 outside of the London area.
From the trailer, it appears that open season on West Ham has started early this season and this programme is almost guaranteed to be another hatchet job on West Ham and their owners. They interviewed Barry Hearn, the Charlton Supporters Trust as well as Andrew Boff from the London Assembly. All of them known to be against the West Ham’s occupation of the Olympic Stadium at the tax payers expense ‘as they call it’.
They also interviewed a number of Hammers fans on camera including myself but as my views were pro-club and pro-stadium move so I doubt my views will see much air time if any. The documentary centres on articles published by Owen Gibson in the Guardian. The club refused to take any part in the making of the documentary which should tell you everything you need to know about it’s content.
Note that they have scheduled it for exactly the same time the vast majority of us will likely be tuning in to the game against Astra…
Added to that I bet they interviewed some West Ham fans who are upset at the move and give them plenty of air time.
I really detest the BBC these days, they claim to be impartial but if you ever watch Question Time the audience never is. It’s all so pink and fluffy and West Ham and the LLDC won’t take part because they know that unless they come across how the BBC want, villainous, deceiving gangsters, then any testimony will unlikely be aired as intended or twisted to suit favour of those who claim to be “fighting” for the tax payer. A load of balls, they just lost out and are jealous, spitting their vindictive dummies out.
The BBC’s news is ridiculous sensationalism too, just as bad as Sky. If you really want to know what’s going on in the world at large, watch Al Jazeera or read Reuters online. If you want to know what’s going on in your local area, read the local freebie.
I guess the BBC will be doing the same investigative piece about the city of Manchester stadium as owned by Manchester City Council and leased to Man City after the construction of stadium for Commenwealth Games. They could roll out Jonny Vegas, Mick Hucknell and the Gallaghers to tell us that it’s dodgy ,no doubt Barry Hearn will have an opinion as it took fans away from supporting Orient…
Mr.PASTRY with a big gob! Shut your face.
getting really sick of this rubbish as hamburger says why are they not fighting this (we are only tenants) ffs & we didn’t set the rent thought the government set that.
might make a complaint if the BBC have got this wrong.
plus the fact that hearn himself wanted a ground share double standards from that no good ****
it would really f*** them all up if the daves decided enough is enough & tell them fill it up themselves…. I got to be honest personly I would have told them to stick it where the sun don’t shine sorry rant over
I just don’t get why West Ham and the LLDC are not fighting their corner on this in the media much more offensively. We all know why we arrived at this strange deal we have now with a Premier League club renting the OS for 99 years and obviously not paying very much upfront for the privilege simply because it’s just a lease.
There were plenty of opportunities to save or make a lot of money from this for the taxpayers if the stadium had been designed in the right way and maybe even if it had been sold to the highest bidder after the games outright.
How anyone could expect any team to pay over the odds for a stadium that is only being leased on a set number of days a year is beyond me.
But I’m sure the BBC somehow will have no trouble painting West Ham as the villain in yet another investigative masterpiece…
It might show how dirty Brady got her hands in winning the deal, but as a Tory peer. I expect her to come out of it well ,if she’s in it at all.
Just what does she do?
