How we rated the Hammers v Chelsea

Hugh hands out the marks on a great afternoon

Hart: Best performance for us this season – several top drawer saves earn the highest praise . Outstanding and pleased for him after a rough season

Zabaleta: As cool as it gets when the pressure comes on. Showed all that experience and how critical it proved at times 8

Rice: Quite astonishing from one so young. Always in the right place at the right time – this boy is in the team to stay …magnificent 9

Ogbonna: Very effective although inevitably the Chelsea strike force broke through on one or two occasions but no complaints. Angelo was excellent 8

Cresswell: Off with what looked like a minor knock in the second half. Did ok without truly catching the eye 7

Masuaku: Worked himself to a standstill…always offering himself as an outlet and getting forward well 7

Noble: Very good performance from the skipper. Tough tackiing, decent passing and always organising 7

Fernandes: Poor performance. Lots of misplaced passes and never truly on the pace. Subbed for Chicharito 4

Kouyate: Coming back to his best at a critical time. Galloped forward, defended well. Very good display 7

Mario: Anonymous for long periods –  didn’t truly impact on the game 5

Arnie: Ploughed a lonely furrow up front but always in the game and provided that vital assist – proper handful who Chelsea defence were always forced to watch very carefully indeed 7

Subs:

Evra: Little to offer after he arrived for injured Cresswell

Chicharito: Great goal and worked well with Arnie throughout his time on the pitch – he would have been a better option than Mario to start 7

Cullen: Late arrival No rating
