How we rated the Irons

kouyateClaretandHugh’s Niall McDonald rates the Irons

Adrian: His sharp saves were valuable at the end. Long distribution didn’t do Valencia any favours 5

Byram: Pushed much further forward after the break. Discipline watch – committed one yellow card foul, ref played advantage and committed a second 6

Reid: Dealt with the physical challenge of the Bournemouth front men well 5

Collins: “Did well heading it out of defence” my son says 5

Masuaku: Not a Cresswell-type but effective 5

Nordtveidt: If I don’t notice a defensive midfielder he’s had a good game, so Nordtveidt had a good game 6

Noble: Skipper was everywhere and really got forward after the break 7

Kouyate: Opposite of Noble, Cheik was everywhere before the break. Nice interchanges of passing down the left 7

Tore: Improvement – only looked a yard off the pace today but a peach of a cross 6

Antonio: Arrived late at the far post, late in the game and won it 7

Valencia: Knocking two points off for the way he ambled off when subbed 4 Subs

Calleri: “and Calleri must score…!” Shame he didn’t with the last kick 5

Fletcher: His run into the box, pointing to where he wanted the cross just before the winner shows real striker’s instinct 5

Obiang: His introduction ran down the clock perfectly

  1. Adrian made two saves that protected the clean sheet. Masuka was outstanding. Entire back five should have at least one more point, if not two each.

  2. Have to admit was worried pre match when I heard of yet another injury to Carroll and no Payet so I’ll take the win. Helped that Bournemouth were really dreadful.

Nobody stood out but Notdveidt and Noble did well and happy for Antonio with the goal. Great stop by Adrian at the end too. Three points and a clean sheet at our brilliant new home and we move on…

  3. Adrien 7 no goals
Byram 7 looking better every game
    Collins 5
    Reid 5
Masuaku 6.5 honest old fashioned performance
    Noveldt 6.5 better
Noble 7 starting to look fitter
Kouyate 7.5 back to good form
Antonio 7 still would like to see him back on the right
Tore 6 needs more games to adjust
Valencia not going to even bother to score how many chances does one get,
Calleri 6 must start next game
Obiang 6 still think we will be making a mistake letting him go
Fletcher 6 will be a great future star
We did OK but they were very poor,

  4. Adrian 7, Byram 6, Collins 6, Reid 6, Masuaku 6, Tore 7, Kouyate 7, Noble 7, Nordtveidt 6, Antonio 7, Valencia 5. (Subs. Calleri 5, Obiang 6, Fletcher 5)

  5. I don’t know what game you were watching but Nordsvelt was shocking guys. Enner deserves a lot more respect, he was much more effective than carroll in this system.

    • Nordveidt was better than against Chelsea when he was awful, but I don’t see what he offers over Obiang if we are to play with three central midfield players. I personally thought Valencia did ok apart from his ridiculously slow walk off.

  6. Johnham1 I normally agree with a lot you say but honestly you think the perfect performance again by Valencia warrants any more then bad views I don’t know,
He is now going down the same road as Magia, eventually we will loose games through his terrible performances,
If we are going to improve on last season we cannot keep playing with ten men,
I carry on like this hoping as with Antonio eventually Slav will understand he is making an error,
1 voice is not enough but when thousands raise there’s for the good of the team things happen,
That’s why I say Drop Valencia form the squad now before he drags us down Fletcher is a better option

  7. Johnham is Valencias one man fan club.I watched Nordtveidt quite a bit in Germany,he was very good.Do only certain players get time to adapt or settle from our fans. Some must be up & running from match one while others are given these fans grace to settle in.

  8. valencia must play in order to be sold..unfortunately…

  9. People don’t usually buy second hand rubbish unless they are desperate,
When the season started he was worth £10 million now he is worth £5 million
Next week £2 million if we keep playing him,
    So we will keep him,
What I am saying is he needs to be rested worked with to bring back his confidence unless someone comes in for him another week and some clubs will become desperate and we might get an offer,
Just don’t put him in our team at the moment please

  10. Bit harsh with the marks imo none were under 6
