How we rated the Irons

winston-reid-west-ham-united_3009997Adrian: Little to do until saving us with  a stunning save from Wickham in injury time 6

Reid: As near faultless a defensive dispay as you will ever see. Extraordinary defending from the big man 9

Ogbonna: Looked nervous and a little error prone but played his part at the back by and large 6

Kouyate: Drafted into a back three and didn’t put a foot wrong – great performance 8

Cresswell: Sensational re-appearance and set up the goal before becoming the victim of a disgusting sending off 8

Obiang: Excellent keep it simple display and real energy in the middle of the park 7

Noble: Great enegry and some seriously important tackles 7

Antonio: Quiet performance by his standards but a threat going forward and he knows how to defend these days 6

Payet: Coming right back to his best and corners always a serious threat 7

Lanzini: Super finish for the goal and a big threat on the ball 7

Zaza: Never stopped running and keeping defenders busy – unlike the statue that is Benteke. Needs a goal but no complaints today 6

Subs: Fernandez (79) 5 Calleri  (86) No rating Nortveidt 88 (No rating)

Slaven Bilic: Introduced an entirely new system and saw his team carry out his tactics perfectly. Well done boss 8

  1. Obiang is irreplaceable right now imho… great midfielder. 😉

    • I have to agree here defo the most defensive minded midfield we got always in the right place lots of energy breaks up play and offer great protection perfect to play with attacking wing backs even when we went down to 10 man for the first time this year I felt we was solid enough to win the game it give the back confidence also welcome back W/Read

  2. Adrian ogbonna and zaza all 7. Time for the self appointed internet experts to stop slagging off our own players when theyre clearly giving everything.

  3. I agree with matte. Obiang must be good because I never really notice him in a game. Rarely puts a foot wrong.

  4. Good shape and a lot more effort, more like the team of last year, a real relief!

Zaza worked hard but still useless!

  5. Obiangs performance surely better than Nobes’?
    Obiang 8 IMO.

Great effort by all though, except perhaps Antonio who did not work his socks off this time.

  6. Reid was superb tonight, who needs tomkins eh lol
Bloody hell Michael didnt realise you managed to slag off Zaza two articles in a row.It must be being so cheerful keeps you going lmao

  7. Lol love you Michael, good man.I always know that no matter how postive your comment starts out there will be a negative sting in the tail everytime Lol 😀

    • You don’t want to get carried away do you? A good performance, made Palace look distinctly second best.

Cresswell unlucky to get sent off, there must be grounds for an appeal which you’d expect to win!

Off to drink my body weight in Timothy Taylors in celebration!

  8. Who is it on here that is always moaning about Reid.He stuffed them right up their kilt tonight Lol

  9. I dont think bubs rates him too highly but he aint got a kilt.He has a poncho,a sombrero & rides a donkey called Jenks 😀

  10. I still can’t work out how Cresswell was sent off. Crazy decision..
I had a heart attack everytime Palace had a corner or put a cross over, Adrian does flap at high balls at times. Apart from that happy happy happy. 3pts well deserved.
The real West Ham have finally turned up. Cresswell was fantastic

  11. Nones 7? Amount of times he put us under pressure even three quarters up the field with his soft cross field passes that were easily intercepted, needs to stop them, Antonio looked injured with hamstring problems so would expect him to be out next game, and what I can’t work out about payet with his corners is for France he drops them high to back post an seems like it causes a lot of problems but for west ham really flat an hardly gets over the first defender at near post. Better performance today though as a team just a couple more results like that in next few games could see us move in the right direction but one game needs to be turned into more

  12. “let’s not get carried away by one game” – No, let’s! After all we’ve been far too quick to write-off Slav and a few others up to now. Great team performance, great result and we made what is a very promising 11 look average. Don’t agree with negative comments around Adrian either. Not the best with crosses but a great shot-stopper and made a couple of top notch saves. Nobes was far better and will continue to improve as confidence grows. In fact give um all tens, an away win and a clean sheet in the PL. what more could we want. COYI

    • Too positive Jimbo, are you sure you are a West Ham supporter 🙂 But yeah i agree,it was a great result against a form team who are usually very stong in front of their own fans.
If we can get 3 points against the mackems next week life suddenly looks a lot rosier.

  13. Fair shout Rick, probably the excessive alcohol intake last night which for once I consumed out of enjoyment rather than to dull the pain! And I need to gain a sense of perspective apparently. The Mrs has commented upon my lighter mood this morning and has worked out (all by herself, bless), that It is the West Ham result which determines whether the dog gets walked or kicked on a Sunday morning! Never realised I had become that obvious – after 30 years.

  14. My MOM was definately Lanzini who deserves a 9, no less. He showed why talk of “sacrificing” him for a more defensive set up which had become fashionable in certain circles of late is nonsensical.

As for Nobes, the 7 next to his name must represent the number of stray sloppy passes he made, not his true rating. Fortunately, we weren’t made to pay because of the system Bilic employed which allowed Obiang and others to mop up after Nobes.
