How we rated the Irons

With Niall Mnort1cDonald still on his holidays Hugh rates today’s performances.

Randolph: Zero chance with the goal – the usual important saves – and best on the books at moment 6

Nortveidt: Lucky to stay on after high second challenge. Apart from that best performance for us. Impressive 7

Reid: The usual seven out of ten. Top bloke, top defender 7

Ogbonna: Caught out and nervous when they got in behind but some important interventions 6

Cresswell: Best display for some time. Great at the back and some penetrating runs and crosses 7

Antonio: Non stop running, volley against the bar and always a menace 7

Kouyate: Always in the thick of it but failed to make a really big impact 6

Noble: Injured in the second half and after that we carried a threat from midfield . Pedestrian performance 4

Ayew: No no no…this guy has a lot to prove – ineffective 3

Payet: Lazy performance, crosses hitting first defenderĀ and few killer runs or passes 4

Carroll: Totally wholehearted but simply not getting the right service from the the sides. When he did we had our best second half chance but headed wide. Felt for him 6

Subs

Lanzini: Excellent when he arrived with good ball carrying and passing skills – faded 5

Feghouli: Still not sure what to make of him. Looks better than we he first arrived but no real impact 4

Fernandes: Very neat and tidy and comfortable on the ball. Needs some starts 6

  1. Randolph in goal mate, not Carroll. LOL.

Agree with most, but for me Ayew was worth a 1 at best. He is looking as useless a signing as any we have ever signed. But made far worse for the fact he is our record signing.

Glad to see Nortveidt have another impressive game.

Felt Feghouli looked quite shape when he came on and at least tried to get the ball into the box. Deserved a 6. Whereas Lanzini did nothing but give the ball away and ball watch. 3 For him.

    • Mental block Stinger. Changed within 4 mins LOL

      • If u wanna have a go at them let me know

        • It’s O’k feller. will just post then in the comments section. For the most part I agree with yours today. I thought there was a lot of good football played by us in that game, just needed someone to stick the ball in the net or for Leicester not to have every bloody bit of luck going.

For me this season is about staying up, getting adjusted to the new stadium, sorting out the Stadium issues and then fingers crossed kicking on next season.

But I really hope we keep faith in Bilic. I am quite sad to see some fans on other sites wanting him out.

          • Agree with your thoughts on the season. Wrote last year this one would be very difficult. Carried along on a tide of emotion last year but if we can turn around this horrible home form who knows where we’ll be.

  2. I think this could be the beginning of the end for NobleObiang/Kouyate midfield and there is unlikely to be a way back without an injury

  3. Bilic will be going nowhere soon Stinger..
Lets be honest we could have new owners & new manager next week & within a month a section of fans will be calling for their heads. We are not alone in that..unfortunately it is a theme that now runs through football as a whole…

  4. I thought we played pretty well I can’t understand why Obiang wasn’t started or brought on ? Noble was poor, Ayew didn’t do much although I think he is not being played where he can do damage and much like Antonio as a right back it is a waste. Payet looks like he is trying to play his way out of the club which is atrocious, his pass completion was almost as non existent as his tackling back, the club should just tell him they will let him go at the end of the season for the right figure. Fernandes again looked good, Oggy was a big lazy and I wonder whether Reid and Kouyate might work as a cb partnership. I must admit when I watched Slimani’s goal and desire what could have been for us, he is a decent striker that would fit into our style of play we could have signed him numerous times, let’s hope we can produce against Utd and City COYI !!!
