How we rated the Irons against Leeds

|

Hugh hands out his marks

Fabianski: Always feels better with him at the back – two great saves but rarely troubled beyond that 7

Coufal:Rarely troubled as usual. Defended well but not as offensive as usual. 7

Diop:  He’s settled in well since his return alongside the outstanding Dawson 7

Dawson: Man of the match by a distance- scored a goal, hit the post, cleared off the line and brilliant throughout 9

Creswell: Top game: Dedended well, great corner for the second goal and always a threat 8

Rice: Decent game, got forward a lot more – the usual very good performance 8

Soucek: Big threat as usual in the area and controlled performance in midfield 7+

Benrahma: Very threatening on the ball and carries it forward so well – needs a goal 7+

Lingard: Won the penalty, missed the penalty, scored from teh rebound and always making  things happen 8+

Fornals: Hit the bar with a fine shot and always made himself available – under-rated player 7

Antonio: Quiet night from the big man as Lingard and Benrahma became out main attacking threats 6

Subs:

Johnson: On late No rating

Bowen: Another late arrival – always busy but little chance to get into it No rating

    Lingard 7 at most

Besides Dawson and Fabinski all these ratings are laughable. The whole team looked like they couldn’t be bothered today. I can’t believe how lucky we got today. Maybe they don’t want 4th place but the rest of us do!!

Harsh on Fornals. He was regularly getting the ball of Leeds.

I didn’t see that. What I saw was a lot of effort having to be spent on coping with serious pressing and physicality all over the pitch. I think we’ll do better against sides that will allow a bit more time on the ball. My biggest concern and it’s not a new one, is how easily the opposition get one or even two players into our LH corner behind Cress’ back and get a cross or shot in.

I think we need Oggy back ASAP – he’s got more about him than Diop. Thank God for Dawson – sign him now please.

Spot on 😄Agree with all your comments especially about Ogbonna

Despite not at their best the team came through albeit winning ugly as the pundits would say. My concern is the way they give the ball away too quickly after gaining possession. Some really awkward moments could have been avoided if they wasn’t in such a rush to get rid of it so quickly. It just needs one or two players to put their foot on the ball and look at the options first instead of hitting balls for hopefully someone to run on to.
It still wrangles me though the way Liverpool were let off the hook by giving them too much respect and not turning up. If the team had played as well as they can but still lost it would have softened the blow but every body else is beating them now, even Fulham and Brighton.

We have a remarkable side; a joy to watch even from behind the sofa 🙂 It’s the way we are: to look at things that could be improved (easier from the sofa) but let’s not lose sight of the fact that we have some very very talented players now who are giving 100%. Algeria will light up when Said scores his first. Good times. COYI!

    • Leon says:

Said is trying to hard, i love him as a player, someone needs to tell him, Bro, your good, we all know it, goals will come but the chances you create for others is just as valuable, relax and enjoy your football.

Rose tinted glasses I think apart from his goal Lingard was nowhere near 8+ formals was everywhere and Benny should never have been subbed Lingard offered nothing in the 2nd half so he should have come off earlier, Jessie’s been great for the most part but Benrama at times must think wt**** do I need to do. ⚒️
