Hugh hands out his marks

Fabianski: Steady as a rock after his nightmare at Andfield 6.5

Ngakia: Another faultless performance from a star in the making 7.5

Diop: Truly back to his best – outstanding 8

Ogbonna: Wonderful display but then we are getting used to it 8

Cresswell: Steady Eddie display – no way back for a certain Masuaku 7

Rice: Great performance. Broke up Saints midfield action and it’s always comforting to see him on the scene when things get tricky 8

Noble: Worked his socks off and produced some fine passing and movement 7

Fornals: Didn’t miss the influential Soucek such was his effort and produced the assist for Antonio’s goal 7

Bowen: Perfect debut. A goal, 100 per cent effort.Could be the one who will change everything for us 8.5

Haller: Looked the part again with a great goal from acute angle and always looked dangerous going forward 7

Antonio: A simple near tap in goal and 100 per cebt effort. What you see is what you get 7

Subs:

Snodgrass. Arrived in 75th minute and again gave maximum effort 5

Anderson: Injury time arrival NO rating

  1. Got to hand it to Moyes. In Bowen and Soucek it looks like he’s brought in two players who are going to really make a difference to our team.

  2. Cannot agree with the rating you gave Nobes. For the past 5 games or so he has been chasing shadows, we’ll off the pace and at times an embarassment. It is time for him to be benched and use sparingly in the final 20 mins.

    • When Souchek returns it will allow Noble to move to the reserves and come off the bench to (hopefully) finish out matches.
So Rice, Fornals and Souchek in the middle
Haller, Antonio and Bowen up front. Moyes could swap out Anderson for Antonio in the starting lineup. Just to keep Michail healthy.
Ngakia, Ogbonna, Diop and Cresswell at the back. Balbuena in for Ogbonna (if needed), as Balbuena/Diop had a strong partnership last season, and haven’t really featured together this year.
      COYI

    • I agree with you there, gives the ball away way too much now gets caught on the ball too often and fortunately today wasn’t trying to play that number 10 position where we may as well play with only 10 players. Get Soucek fit drop nobes and that’s a decent enough team although if Anderson on form would like his pace out wide where Fornals playing but if not going to put a shift in getting back it’s fornals for me

  3. Noble not worth a 7 I’m afraid, always shows passion, but not at his previous playing level. Fornals worth an 8 at least, although his touch let him down on a few occasions, but the pass for Bowen’s goal was De Bruyne’esque. And Bowen? Worked hard, finished well and also made a goal saving tackle in our box. Ngakia looking very promising too!

  4. Really enjoyed the game. Bowen all over the pitch. Think he also saved a certain goal. Energised the whole team. A straight 10 for me. And Haller finally has a partner. He looked transformed. Fair play to Moyes.

    • Couldnt agree more on the comments regarding noble loads of time we was on the attack and he either gave a sloppy pass or got caught out of possession when soucek is fit i dont want to see noble any where near that start ing 11 yes his mr west ham but his our weakest link him and snodgrass the game is fully ten miles in front of them

  5. Must agree with Kenny and I like nobs! Cresswell at fault again sorry has no pace and becoming a liability at defending once again couldn’t stop the cross from being delivered. Certainly masu not the answer either but Ben Johnson could be and certainly need a top left back in summer as well as selling a few now especially Fred who can’t make it here . Sou coming back soon should replace noble as now it’s best he becomes a sub and then maybe coaching ? Great display of effort again and needs to keep this up for last ten games with two great additions of sou and bow I have always said no way we go down with even moyes as a coach I certainly didn’t want. Today he actually did some good substitutions for a change . Imo

  6. Nobes bowing out.Westham hero for sure,, time to let younger, fresh legs take over.First time I looked at a Moyes team before the game began and thought, this is it!

  7. Couldn’t watch live but listened on Radio Bradley Allen gave every West Ham player 8 or 9 look forward to seeing some highlights COYI!!!

  8. Only 7 for Fornals and Antonio! Both were on today and they were given the same rating as noble! Fornals created two of our three! Antonio scores one and stretched their defence at every opportunity not giving them a moment to relax and play out from the back. We’re you even watching the game!

  9. Went to the game and when i saw the line up I prayed it would work out as that attacking formation will make a lot of teams think twice about how to play us compared to the ‘Haller up front’ days. Hopefully everyone can give it 100% and stay fit!

  10. Noble and Snodgrass not got the legs for the top league any more and Cresswell is a complete liability, Bowen and Ngakia both give the team energy pace and fight, both natural starters.

  11. Antonio was fantastic and easily deserved an 8…

    • Noble is well past it hes our weakest link get out of his backside worth maybe a 5 Fornals and Antonio at least an 8

  12. Yeah agree after this season we need to look at that position..alot depends on if we stay up ..if we do then noble can only be used as sub but if we go down, ( god forbid) then most of the players will go and the youngsters will be used and noble will still play like he is now and hold them all together..
