How we rated the Irons at Old Trafford

|

Hughie hands out the marks

Fabianski: A couple of outstanding saves – couldn’t be faulted for the goal 7

Couval: Drew the short straw again with Rashford down that side but another fine performance 7

Dawson: At the heart of a terrific defensive performance and made some really important tackles and blocks 8+

Ogbonna: Off early with ankle injury No rating

Cresswell: Always busy and again had a decent match front and back 7

Bowen: Another who went off early without ever really getting into the game 6

Noble: Always busy but like the rest had his work cut out against United’s midfield 6

Soucek: Never overly influential but did little wrong 6+

Rice: Worked tirelessly and tried to get forward but it was a night when United bossed midfield  and sadly he was responsible for the goal in part 7

Fornals: Not too much to offer on a night when we were being pushed back 5+

Yarmolenko: Not a striker, very cumbersome, made little happen and was eventually subbed 3

Subs:

Fredericks: One of two promising runs and made a difference down the side 7

Diop: On for the injured Oggy and was then subbed for concussion No rating

Benrahma: Made a big difference – why wasn’t he on much earlier? 7+

Odubeko: On for Yarmolenko but never found a way into the game. Don’t like to mark him down – the boy is on a learning curve 4

Johnson: Did very well down the left side in the second half

Lanzini: On too late to make a difference No rating
