How we rated the Irons at Spurs

Hughie hands out his marks

Fabianski: One great save – no chance with the goals. Not his day 6

Johnson: The lad is growing intro a proper full back but like the rest of them looked a bit leggy after Thursday night6

Dawson: On a poor afternoon defensively he was ok but Spuds were always given too much space 6

Zouma: Relentless booed to the point of boredom; scored an own goal and generally in pretty poor shape throughout 4

Cresswell: Did his best to make things happen on a day when nothing much did 6

Yarmo – no heroics today

Masuaku:  Subbed at half time – no worse than anyone else but that’s not saying too much 5

Rice: This wasn’t the high energy Declan we have become used to – always struggling to pierce the two banks of four in front of him 6

Soucek: Looked leggy all afternoon and no big contributions 5

Benrahma: Lovely goal and carried more threat than  the others 7

Lanzini: Worked really hard in midfield and has become a genuine team player 7

Antonio: Missed one really good chance but looked the most likely option to cause issues until Moyes took him off 6+

Subs

Yarmolenko: No heroics today and never looked likely to be 5

Fornals: Worked really hard – good short and long passing 7+

  1. Surprised we did not change formation at half time. Completely overrun in midfield, and no pressure on Spurs back line.

Cress is ok as a CB in a back 3, but he breaks the line too often leaving space behind Daws and Zouma. Reverting to a regular 4-2-3-1 would’ve helped numbers in the center where we were completely overrun, and pressuring Spurs so they would have a harder time building up attack.

Lads are tired after heroics on Thursday, ans worker very hard today. Just wish they could’ve been set up to working harder and not just chasing Son’s tail all evening

  2. How does Masuaku score higher than Cresswell? :-O
If Bene was West Hams’ best player today, I better give up watching football and take up knitting

  3. Spot on …. Always up against it after Thursday and Moyes failure to supplement the squad . Harsh score for Zouma … he was certainly better than Masuaku and Dawson and yet again Antonio proved that he is not a natural goal scorer ..a 5 at best .
