How we rated the Irons v Burnley

Niall McDonald hands out the marks

Fabianski: No chance with the goal, otherwise looked comfortable 6
Fredericks: Hard to find fault tonight, pretty solid 6
Diop: Coped well with Burnley’s physical threat and movement at set pieces 7
Ogbonnna: Also had a good game this evening, playing the ball out of defence positively 7
Cresswell: Will be disappointed with his part in the goal 5
Rice: Partnership with Soucek looks really promising – not left with sole responsibility for everything in the middle now 6
Soucek: Standout midfielder again today for us 7
Fornals: An evening where his passing was slightly off, although his energy and commitment wasn’t 6
Yarmolenko: Deserved to start, had less impact over the hour or so he played tonight 5
Bowen: Plenty of effort, his corners were too predictable and easy for Burnley to defend 6
Antonio: Ran himself to a standstill and found it tough going against Tarkowski – missed a golden chance to equalise straight after their goal 6

Subs
Haller: Nearly scored with his first touch, won a couple of headers – otherwise didn’t look hugely interested it must be said 5
Ajeti: A rare sighting – only contribution an ambitious header from 18 yards that went well wide 2

  1. Fredericks solid.. Wow what game was you watching 😳😳😳

  2. Good evening sir.
Sorry which match were you watching. Cresswell and Fredericks made so many serious mistakes. And both cant tackle.
So, if average is = 5, and they performed below average, how come they get a 5 and a 6.
Everyone Raves about Antonio, especially when he scores. Yet he always gets an extremely high rating. For most of the matches he has recently played … he doesn’t go out of his way to tackle. Now someone will say, he is a lone striker and must reserve his energy. I understand that.
But why does Vardy run his backside off, and so does Jesus, and Rashford etc …. ???

  3. Overly generous on the defence considering we lost and conceded.

Fabianksi: 5 not the keeper of last season and didn’t look comfortable on crosses
Fredricks 6 ok preformance but not our best rightf ull back.not intelligent enough .
Cresswell 4 Poor marking for the goal, nothing going forward and that cross at the end
Diop 6 . did ok and had a battle with Wood, lcuky with the offside.
Ogbonna 6 . Not as commanding as previous games.
Soucek 6. Again not as comanding or influentual as prevously.Gave the ball away like many.
    Rice. 6/Same as Soucek
Fornals.Didn’t create enough ,gave the ball away.Should of been replaced earlier for Lanzini.
Bowen.6.Worked hard and was unlucky nut ddin’t create enough needs his scoring boots back on.
Yarmolenko 5. Nothing happended for him.burnley sussed him coming in on to his left foot.Should of played through the middle/1 shot blocked.
Antonio 7. Could and should of neeted straight after they scored.Always willing and created the most . Knackered and should of been replaceD
Subs: Haller 3. Should of scored with his 2nd touch.Lack of real desire in that and the rest of his performance.Self presevation. Will need to step up agaisnt Norwich 150%
    Ajeti,3 terrible header.Why ? feel sorry for him.given 5 minutes WTF

Moyes. 0. was going to give him 1 but he turned up.
terrible, terrible manager.his thinking on subs is just madness , he’ll now have a completley knackered team.Poor tactics, demeanor and management skills.
Empty stadium will continue if he’s still at the helm next season.

    • Brilliant summing up, not blinkered, we will probably escape, but that just paints over the cracks, awful season, Moyes out of his depth, but it’s down to the decision makers.

    • Haller, lack of real desire to score a goal? Self preservation? You think any striker has a lack of real desire to score a goal? Maybe i misinterpreted your comment but if not, that’s nonsense!

  4. There’s no attacking threat from Creswell, and little from Fredericks. Both are below-standard defenders. I’d give them 3/4 for playing vaguely in the right direction.

  5. My reply was to slidingtackle, please note

  6. Creswell is a zero he is over the top we would be better player another left player there, who can tackle. Fredericks is more of a winger than a defender, how can Johnson gain Premier League experience on the bench. Play the young players and give them a try, the old are losing us games.

  7. These comments are more accurate than the ratings . Cresswell ,Fredericks and Fabianski were all poor . Three each for the full backs and four for the keeper who has totally lost confidence and is not dealing with crosses or commanding the box . The Haller rating was unfair as he got no service and is not match fit . Surely Silva must be a better bet as sub than Ajeti …I would give Moyes two … he turned up and did not get pressured into bringing on Noble who is not the man to turn a match . Didn’t get much else right . Dreading the weekend as it is nailed on that Noble will play so the pace and penetration will diminish and Rice , Soucek will be shackled covering for a weak link . COYI
