How we rated the Irons v Cardiff

|

Hugh hands out the marks

Fabianski: Outstanding again: One incredible double save and two or three others – player of season for me 9

Fredericks: Excellent going forward but a few things to answer for when under pressure defensively 6

Ogbonna: Did well by and large and always relatively composed apart – like the rest of them – from early on 6

Hernandez – shocking behaviour

Diop: Some brilliant interventions but some difficult moments – none more so than when taking a yellow for a ‘forearm smash’ 7

Cresswell: Competent rather than spectacular 6

Rice: Even in this poor performance from the team he looked different class despite losing out on the odd tackle 7

Noble: Worked hard in the first half and produced some good passes – faded second 45 6

Snodgrass: Long season may be catching up. Anonymous for long periods 5

Lanzini: Rarely seen to be honest and on a bad day could change little 4

Anderson: Taken off at half time after a totally ineffective performance. Apparently took a knock but sounds like an excuse to me 2

Hernandez: I could barely bring myself to write his name. His disgusting dive for a pen shames everything West Ham United should stand for. Nothing in his game again and looking past his sell by date. Just leave! 0

Subs:

Nasri: Did nothing wrong but then there wasn’t much positive stuff to consider 4

Arnautovic: One thunderous shot which was brilliantly save and a lot of effort – did ok for me and needs to start against Huddersfield 6

Antonio: One ghastly effort which was so high and wide it will qualify for “worst goal attempt of the season” and never really got into the game 3

Taking those ratings as a yardstick you must have given some of them 14 out of 10 against Newcastle!

don’t think it was our absolute worst performance of the season, there are others that were even less effective (see Brighton match), but we were definitely toothless again. nobody in the side gets better than a 4 apart from Oggy and maybe Diop and Cress.

totally agree with Hammersone. bubbles is a moaning mudslinger with nothing to say other than to belittle the hardest-working player we have on and off the field and one of the best captains the club has ever had. go support someone else, you’ve never said a good word about anybody and your bubble burst a long time ago. i don’t know how to spell a fart noise.

Strange ratings. We performed much better once the ponderous Noble was hooked, even though the equally ponderous Snodgrass remained. Nasri and Antonio brought life to the game. Very strange scores indeed.

Worst display of the season . My old mate Captain terrible was as bad as it comes but Anderson and Hernandez were not much better . Embarrassing at best and kick our Hernandez because he is a cheat . !

It’s so funny isn’t bubbles, that when we win and Nobes plays well (as he has been doing recently along with the rest of the team) you’re quiet as a mouse. Your the kind of West Ham supporter bubbles, I personally can’t stand. That’s my honest take on keyboard warriors, like you. I agree with hugh and his write up. We win and lose as 11. Bubbles wind your neck in.

I second this comment mate, I think Noble get far to much criticism given the fact he is about the only player that has always given his heart and soul for this team and never been bought into question.
I mean I see the opening of the billy bond stand last week and that bought a lump to my throat, give it another 35/40 years and there will be a stand called the Mark Noble stand.
I think we have played some really nice football this season and like most hammers fans if they turn up and give it there all and still come off second best then that’s all we can ask for and I’m proud to be a hammer.
Now we just need to cement some more strength in the summer to gain consistency.
Very disappointed with the result today but a it could Ben worse guys we could be a SPURS fan COME ON YOU IRONS XX

I think we saw today Lanzini needs more time (he was so anonymous he didnt even get a rating).
I thought Nasri had bright spells but my big issue is Fredericks cost us that second goal and should be replaced by Zaba. Also agree that Snods is looking ineffective.
Need to have a good think about how we will avoid another humiliation when we play huddersfield.

What a heroes to zeroes performance. Genuinely thought we were seeing a turning tide when it comes to this ridiculous inconsistency, but today was as bad as it has been this season, when compared to the ‘perfect’ performance against Newcastle. Who is responsible for getting them fired up for the start of the game, rather than after 25 minutes when we’re already 1-0 down? So, so frustrating, and hard to stick a pin in the pundits who live off the phrase “you don’t know which West Ham will turn up…”. Fab apart, they all had a poor game by the standards set last week. Someone needs to put an arm around Anderson and tell him to go out there and express himself. He’s playing as if he’s shackled. Hernandez has surely lost his place based on that performance.

  • Hammerkip says:

Apart from fab I can’t see how any of them can get a score over 5
