How we rated the Irons v Chelsea

Hughie hands out his marks

Fabianski: Not his day. Failed to give either Kehrer or Coufal a shout ahead of Chelsea goal and was then nutmegged for the equaliser. 5

Coufal: Good afternoon at the back and got forward well on second half 6

Kehrer: Looks a good signing as a replacement central defender alongside alongside Zouma 6

Zouma: Very composed and calm performance at centre of defence 7

Emerson: Some great runs down the left and looks a real competitor 7

Rice: Back to his very best – broke stuff up and set things up. Key role in the goal 8

Soucek: Played a strong defensive role and looking the player we have always thought him to be 7

Fornals: Worked incredibly hard and  making neat and tidy passes but missed one good chance 7

Paqueta: Became more involved in the second half but will been more time in training to make the expected BIG impact 6

Bowen: Showed two top runs and crosses early in second half.  His game is improving after a slow start to the season 6

Antonio: Never stopped…battled his  heart out all afternoon. Probably the scruffiest goal of his career but well deserved 8

Subs:

Benrahma Brilliant cross for Cornet to hit post – looking a really good player 8

Cornet: So unlucky not to be given his first goal in claret and blue via a disgusting VAR decision. Not on for long 7

  1. Areola has to be given a start in the PL at this point. How Biwenbus starting ahead of Benrahma or Cornet even. He has been hopeless in the PL and it appears no matter how poorly he plays Moyes will stick by him. Just imagine how some if the other players must be feeling. In the end we were robbed by the officials, a decision that was just baffling.
