How we rated the Irons v Spurs

Hugh hands out his marks

Fabianski: A couple of great saves and always a reassuring presence at the back

Coufal: Running out of words for the guys – another high level display 8

Diop: Playing as if he’s never been away 7

Dawson: Almost scored with a great header and terrific at the back 8

Cresswell: Hard to fault – some good defending and offensive stuff 7+

Soucek: Took a nasty cut across the eye but always as competent as ever 7+

Rice: Outstanding all over the pitch – brilliant performance 9

Bowen: At the heart of things as ever – assist for goal but maybe not at his total best 6+

Fornals: As ever ran his heart out but didn’t overly affect things 6

Lingard: Assist and goal – driving force to the best that happened for us with Declan 9

Antonio: Vital opening goal and looking fitter but quiet as Spurs dominated beyond 6+

Subs:

Johnson: Did absolutely nothing wrong and looks the part 5+

Benrahma: If ever a player needed a goal to help his confidence it’s Said – l0ts of clever control but no end product 5

Noble: On very late No rating

  1. Superb result, a very happy hammer.

  2. Brilliant..bang on with the ratings hugh

  3. We played well all over the pitch, defensively other than Cressie losing Moura who was excellent for a split second, it was a brave courageous defensive team performance. Bowen again doesn’t get his head up fast enough and cost us too great opportunities one when he was through on his own and the other when he could have played Antonio through, he is just a tiny bit short of form but he still gave 100% and fair play to him. Agree with Moyes we are not playing great with the ball, if we can get better at retaining the ball and taking chances we could really do some damage. Moyes got it right going 5 at the back also they were creating a lot out wide and I thought they actually played pretty well 7/10 for that Spurs team but unlike other days they missed the target and thank god for that !!! Going to enjoy this week, Man City next and hoping they are knackered after their European adventure and we are more rested and on it COYI!!!

  4. Complete agreement. Concerned that Bowen is losing the plot.
Our Czechs took a beating today, but what talent.

  5. We should not forget the brilliant Bowen cross for Mikey’s opening goal – that gave us the platform for the win

  6. I felt Diop was as good as everyone at the back and Fornals was there for both goals, particularly the first when it was his run that distracted Spurs for Micky to score

Although hard to critise an excellent hard fought battle by everyone, Cresswell’s momentary lapse gave the Spuds the impetus and very nearly cost us dear (another year Son’s freak hut would have gone in)

Just hope Micky hasn’t warn himself out for the next month.

4th spot in our own right…… are we all dreaming??

Well done Moyes and his team
