Kouyate: Pole-axed yet again – this time resulting from his own wild aerial challenge. Started to get his foot in late on 6
Masuaku: Seemed a little bit out of sorts and wasn’t a surprise to see him subbed 4

Lanzini: Some excellent driving runs in the first-half. Seemed to be between positions after the break 6
Arnautovic: A ‘nearly’ match… Nearly got through on goal, or played in a team-mate on several occasions 6

Carroll: Warmed up diligently and otherwise glued to his seat until coming on. No joy in the air but played some lovely passes and through-balls 6

Manager: No surprises with the starting line-up or approach before the break. Regularly offered advice to Rice from the touchline. Called Noble over on 56 mins and gave lengthy instructions to pass onto Lanzini, which seemed to be moving him to a more central role. Well-received decision to bring Carroll on after 65 mins and go to a positive 2 up-front, provoked Jose to kill the game with late substitutions 7
