How we rated the Irons v Villa

marknoble_726Adrian: Little to do but once again always as reliable as it gets when called upon 6

Tomkins: Turned out complete with special protective band over those 13 stitches in his forehead – brave and showed quality 7

Reid: Terrific quality at times but a relaxing night in the main after Ayew’s moment of madness 7

Collins: Like Reid, a quiet night but once again steady and composed

Cresswell: Usual highly competent performance from front to back 7

Noble: Finest performance in many months – the man was everywhere. Huge display 9

Kouyate: Terrific late surge with Valencia for the goal and high energy second half performance 7

Song: Off the pace and really not looking anything like the player he was early last season 5

Payet: Not at his best and unable to find that burst of pace and killer pass 6

Antonio: Gotta love Michail. Fabulous headed goal and non-stop action 8

Valencia: Never easy against two defensive banks of four but a frustrating display 6

Subs Moses, Obiang and Jelavic all appeared too late to rate

  1. I have read 10 different peoples scores on players,
    Noble on 5 was MOTM
    Kouyate 3
    Collins 2
    Antonlo 2
Which is not a problem for me but shows how people view each game in different ways, the same as Payet a week ago he was a £35 million player now he is an average Joe maybe injured,
We need to take the whole picture in,We have beaten so many records this year and will keep doing it,
Let Slav weave his magic and not look to deeply every week into every display and most of all ENJOY THE BEST SHOW IN TOWN
Tonight was another great day for entertainment
But more than that our old ground had another night to remember
2016 the year of the Hammer
    COYI

  2. I think you are way too harsh on Song. He played really well alongside Noble. I think he is getting close to his form of early last season.

  3. Song and Payet are both coming back from long lay off’s especially Song, to expect them to be straight back upto speed is not realistic, as they play more they will find their feet again. The same will go for Sakho and Lanzini when they return, give them a few games before they get their match sharpness back. Whatever the ratings we got 3 points and where we are that is all that matters, we actually increased the gap between us and our nearest competitors for the European places, by that I mean the gap between 6th and below so overall whilst it would have been nice to see Tottenham and City not winning overall it was a very good night for our European ambitions.

  4. Song 5? What game was you watching? He put more tackles than any other West Ham player, he created as many chaces as Payet barring corners. Loads of passes, what more do you want? He was good against Citeh as well, he has his odd moment of laziness but also holds the ball up very well. He had some not totally convincing games when he came back, but the last couple he has done a good job. He was much better than Payet in the game before who you gave a 6 that time… Keep your hair on just being honest.!
