How we rated the Irons

|

Kouyate_3191406Adrian: Two outstanding saves and as steady as we’ve become used to which gave great confidence to the patched up back four. 7

Tomkins: Another fine defensive performance as we kept out second clean sheet on the trot. Struggles going forward but that’s not part of his game YET. 7

Ogbonna: Uncompromising at central defence. Keeps it simple and made sure Stoke’s mobile forwards were kept at bay for the most part. 7

Collins: What you see is what you get. No nonsense defending and thankfully he kept his cool. 7

Cresswell: The usual big threat when going forward at pace and showing some great trickery in dangerous areas but found out in first half defensively. 7

Noble: Constantly on the go and always looking for the killer pass. Did well. 7

Song: Still looks off the pace and in need of games. Tried hard to set things up. 7

Kouyate: The usual all-action performance, defended well and joined in, often to effect, up front. 8

Zarate: Everything that happened, came through the guy. Some great runs, hit the post but his set pieces left something to be desired. 7

Antonio: Looked very good with some power running and sweet turns. Looks set to become a very handy player. 7

Carroll: Tireless, determined and some fine touches. Could have done with more aerial service as it always looked possible it would happen when crosses did come in. 7

Subs: Valencia: Good to see him back but he found his way into things quietly apart from one well saved free kick. 5

Jelavic appeared late again – zero impact (Unfair to rate on six minutes)

Does anyone know how many times song gave the ball away?
We are weak in right back and left back positions we leave ourselves open creswell gets caught out a lot.
To many times this season opposition players in our pen box unmarked,.BUT! We did try and play football Zarate was great and will shine without some of our big names out,Carroll does work hard,Adrian was fantastic, as was kouyate.
If this was a boring o-o draw then be concerned ,like I said we did try and play football.
We had chances and Antonio looks promising.

Well done Kev you got a bite,
Ignore him John he knows even our second string that can’t get on the bench or out on loan are better players than what Hippo could dish up,
I would think you could now count the idiots that want BFS back on one hand if not they really do not understand our club or our tradition what this club stands for,
I never thought in this day of money before entertainment that l would be proud of being a Hammer fan again but it’s here,
Kev go elsewhere and play with fans feelings try Man U or Sunderland they would love you at the moment,
Glad to see you rate Adrien this week Hugh some great saves

I’d only argue with the Tomkins and Song ratings – Tomkins is not a full back – he’s doing a good fill-in job but he doesn’t look comfortable in possession and hasn’t got the legs to get up and down, his crossing is not what you expect from a Premiership player. Right full back is a real problem position.

Song is patently still not fit – he tried but gave the ball away too much and was disappointing.

Valencia is very much a peripheral figure – obviously not fit and only making up the numbers. One great free kick (which wasn’t shown on MOTD for some reason) but anonymous apart from that.

I’d make Kouyate the MOM with Zarate a close second.

Agree Johnboy. Already posted my remarks on this game. Absolutely bril. With 6 players missing I believe we played very well against the best side we have seen at UP this term. And as for Kevin’s comments about BFS he would have been shutting up shop within 20 mins of the second half. Slav, with limited options went for it. And would BFS have played Antonio. Nah! Jarvis and O’Brien would have been his answer. Grow up Kev and as Johnboy said, don’t be a complete nob!

  • johnboy says:

I think its because Kevin is a complete nob ?
The idiot has not a clue !!!! Hence the hippo remarks !!! Clueless is being to kind !!!
    Nob!!!!!

I’d rather watch us now, than at any point last season, how you can say we are worse baffles me.

  • kevin says:

We tried but we weren’t good enough . Too many injuries . Things are no better now than they were under Alladyce at this time of last season ,, worse , in fact .
