Just this morning West Ham United posted the ‘Training Gallery | Hammers get ready for Bournemouth’ images live on the club web site. It is a crucial phase of the season with Lopetegui still in a difficult situation, somewhat under siege as a head coach and desperate for three points to make his position considerably more comfortable.

There is one very big difference in these images: I have posted a link to the club web site so you can go and check it out for yourself when you’ve finished this article.

Whether the media department are doing their thing or whether the word SMILE was shouted out during the whole session in some stalinist-style photo staged session, virtually the whole team are pictured smiling. Including Julen Lopetegui. Maybe he read my article from yesterday!

Good grief, Edson almost cracking a smile too!

So either West Ham are trying to show unity and how much everyone is enjoying life under Lopetegui or there is indeed a different atmosphere from the oh – so serious images of a couple of weeks ago before the first ‘must win’ game against Everton: At that time the faces were serious, Lopetegui was strained.

Perhaps there’s new found optimism within the squad, perhaps not. We’ll see who is smiling after 90 minutes on Monday night. That’ll be the real show of where the squad is at.

You can judge for yourself: check out the photos here

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Hopefully Lopetegui has told his players to give 100% and those who don’t wish to own up

The last thing we need right now is a win at Bournemouth. Can you imagine how long that will add to our sentence under Lopetegui? Probably through to the end of January when we get Villa, Chelsea, Brentford and Arsenal.

      You want us to lose?

it’s ridiculous. despite my distaste for Lopetegui, i don’t trust Sully to bring in the right person to replace him immediately. i can’t bare watching West Ham lose and i would much rather they come good and for Loppy to prove me wrong. how many times do some people wasn’t us to lose just to get rid of him? not for me…i’d rather 3pts every game, thanks

If that is the only way to get rid of him, you are damn right I do. It hurts but my reasoning is this, if we are stuck with that idiot through March/April, he could drag us down. Almost anyone else will keep us up if they get the job soon enough. It’s called “the bigger picture”.
