“Huge” double boost for Blades ahead of Irons clash

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has revealed that striker Lys Mousset and midfielder John Fleck are back in full training and are in contention to play a part in the weekend encounter against the Irons on Sunday afternoon.

Mosset has been suffering from a tendon since sustaining the injury in a pre-season friendly while Fleck hasn’t been involved since the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in early October.

But it seems that both are now very much in the frame to play a part in the game although it would probably be a surprise were Fleck in particular be in the starting line-up as the Blades hunt for their first win of the season.st West Ham on Sunday after recovering from injury.

“There are a couple of issues,” Wilder said. “It’s always difficult when they go away and out of our control – different standards and issues. We’ve got a couple of injury situations.

“But Mousset’s back in full time training and might be available. John Fleck has been training [and available] – that’s a huge boost. For the other players to see them back training and back to full tilt it’s great for everyone. There are a few we will leave til the last minute.”

Among those who will have late decisions made on them are Rhian Bewster and John Egan who both left their respective international camps early.

We’ll give everybody the maximum time to recover and be tested by the medical staff – every player that has been away,” Wilder said. “Looking at them from an injury point of view and traveling and everything but we’ll give them as long as possible and try and pick the correct side.

“They’ve all got a chance to play and Fleck and Mousset. It’s a discussion between myself, my staff and the medical department.

“We can’t take huge gambles but every player here wants to put their hand up and play.

He added: “Fleck and Mousset coming back is huge. The break coming up has been good and given us a chance to reset.”

The Hammers of course have just the one outstanding injury issue surrounding Michail Antonio who is set for a late fitness test before the Irons travel north.
Both Angelo Ogbonna and Arthur Masuaku – who have been carrying minor injuries are set to be included in our squad with David Moyes revealing that the central defender is fine.
Masuaku has been receiving treatment in the UK for a minor ankle issue having stayed at home rather than travel for the DR Congo’s international matches in the African Nations Cup.
Regardless of our often weak form after a break and inconsistencies against lower division teams CandH is going for a 2-1 Hammers win

  1. Hugh this I see as one of the difficult games , despite their position in the table , they are tough to beat. Not a negative I think we will win but only if we match their energy . COYI ⚒

  2. It’s time we started consistently beating the teams below us, Sheffield Utd will be up for this, Wilder and quite a few of their players know the history, they hate us, blame us for the travesty that was the Tevez affair, PL should have fined us but decided it could affect the fight for the league which the PL prioritised over the battle for relegation, PL should be who they hate but they don’t hey ho… imho Moyes and the whole team should wear Tevez masks to really wind them up, at least then they will know it’s going to be a tough game and probably produce, instead we will probably play like we did against Fulham, underestimate them and lose…

  3. I think we will win.
The defence and midfield is a good as any. Look how the beast teams have taken to short corners rather than compete in the 6 yard box.
Have players who can play two-way and still find the net.
