Tony Cascarino knew a little bit about leading the line and reckons the Irons may finally have found the man to solve their problems.

Centre forward has not been the most successful Hammers position over recent years 🙂 but in Seb Haller we could finally be about to put our miseries to an end.

After universal praise at the signing and many descriptions of his abilities the former Republic of Ireland front man has weighed in with his own view and ite could hardly have been more favourable.

“I know Sebastien through watching him a couple of times in Germany,” Cascarino told TalkSport. “Obviously, they have made some big deals this summer. Jovic, his striking partner at Frankfurt left for Madrid, between them they scored lots of goals.

“I think Haller is a fantastic addition to West Ham. Leads the line brilliantly. 6ft 3. Great hold up play. Makes goals and scores goals. Incredibly good in the air. You have lost Andy Carroll. But Haller has got a fantastic jump and a powerful header of the ball. “I think it’ll be a big plus for West Ham United..”

West Ham United unveil their new record signing Sebastien Haller on July 17, 2019 in London, England.

His arrival means of course that Manuel Pellegrini has asked for and got two players costing around £80 million over his time in charge and that European qualification is now very much the club’s expectation as a result.

Some may have been expecting he and Mario Husillos to pull a cheaper striker out of the hat given their intimate knowledge of the world game.

But Haller’s signing at up to £50 million after add-ons demonstrates that it gets harder and harder every year to get hold of an important striker at anything less than top whack.
