Following relegation, next comes the exodus. Such has been the fear of many West Ham fans as the trapdoor loomed for the Hammers and stories linked players with exits: Many, surely will be sold as the club struggles to shore up its finances ahead of the expected £60 million shortfall inn the Championship.
No sooner had relegation been confirmed that the standard.co.uk broke the story revealing captain Jarrod Bowen’s future:
“Jarrod Bowen reveals if he will leave West Ham after relegation confirmed” wrote the newspaper, confirming:
Jarrod Bowen has suggested he has no plans to leave West Ham after the club was relegated from the Premier League, saying he is prepared to help the club earn promotion next season.
There has been plenty of speculation as to which West Ham players might be dispensed with should they be relegated, captain Bowen chief among them, but the forward insists he has no plans to leave.
“I’m under contract here. I’ve been here six and a half years. I’ve had some really high moments and this is a low moment that will outweigh everything.
“There’s going to be rumours, there’s going to be talk. Ultimately, what I see is getting this club back in the Premier League because that is where it deserves to be.
“This is a really, really low moment, but we have to bounce back because there’s no other way. This is a really difficult moment.
Whether David Sullivan is brave enough to ignore offers for Bowen that are likely to materialise in the summer window is another matter altogether: But to hear West Ham’s skipper pledge his future to the club is welcome news to hundreds of thousands of Hammers fans.
Let’s see what the summer brings: But how good would that be if Bowen is there at the start of next season.
Fair play to Bowen for showing some class – let us see how things unfold – the first thing is whether Nuno will stay then we can see which players stay and which players leave
Kante to take the championship by storm?
COYI
Sullivan would be dafter than i thought if he were to let Jarrod go. his name alone would be enough for some of the better players we are considering for to sign up
Just read the Club statement.More hollow words in my humble opinion. The supporters are the life blood of a football club and Hammer’s supporters are entitled to be aggrieved with the miserly inaction of a Chairman and board.
If he stays he will be up there with the likes of Bonds & Brooking, which I think he wants to be.
Unfortunately our owner probably only sees him as a source of income. I’m just hoping he does because loyalty means everything to our fans.
Not one Spurs player would have said that had they been relegated.
You’re surely forgetting Kudus. Morty. Tottenham is in his heart …
The only person who needs to walk is Sullivan.
His shares will follow the club and continue to go down.
It would be nice if other players followed Bowen’s example.
Kretinsky neds to get more involved it’s now or never.
Will the pathetic chairman make a statement to the fans apologising for running our club into the ground, i doubt it. 60 years a fan and I’ve never felt like i do now , yes we’ve been relegated before but this shambles is as bad as it gets.
He may have seemed to have pledged his future to the club – & I very much hope that he will stay – but I have my doubts that will still be the situation when he “wakes up & smells the coffee”. Sad day, today, but what did we all expect; this season has been abysmal & our efforts – or lack of them – has got us where we are today. In the end, we deserved relegation. End of story.
In some ways Bowen leads and in others he doesn’t this is one he is leading front and centre. We can only hope others follow his lead and stay too. Talking of leaving and staying pass on to Sulivan he is not wanted and he can move on. We won’t get a transfer fee but the club will be better off. We will ofcourse be playing one of his old clubs next season where he left them in the Championship.
I would be surprised if Bowen left he is 30 this year and still has 4/5 years left on his contract. He would be unlikely to command a fee of over 30 million. His international career is over. He might as well stay and cement his club legend status.
I think Soucek might stay as well. The younger ones with ambition like Fernandes , Summerville , Diouf will be the ones to go.
I particularly hope they can keep Taty he would do well in the championship
With the summer away from football, JB will come back refreshed to lead the charge back to the Prem. He clearly wants to stay, and I am sure that even Sully realizes he is going to be an absolute legend… hopefully!
He wont be at the club Sullivan will make sure of that Needs to get his greedy hands on every penny he dan
There’s always one (pleb) isn’t there? You really believe Sullivan gets his swag bag out, wearing his black and white hooped shirt, filling it up with the millions we may or may not get for the like of Bowen? Duh 🙄
