Czech Republic keeper Tomas Vaclik had a blinder against the Netherlands and must surely have caught David Moyes’ eye as the team ran out 2-0 winners this evening.
And with Lukasz Fabianski entering the last year of his contract it would be no surprise if the Irons weren’t to move for the 32 year old stopper who is on a free transfer from Sevilla this summer.
However, they maybe deterred by the fact that he missed a total of 24 games in 2020 with knee problems and would need to be certain that he is fully over those problems.
Although the Irons are known to be looking for a central defender, midfielder, hopefully in the shape of Jesse Lingard and a striker, Vaclik’s position looks too inviting to ignore should they get reassurances from the medics.
He made one remarkable save early on and was as safe as houses throughout as the Republic clinched a place in the last eight.
Netherlands were reduced to ten men early in the second half but they had their chances to win the game before the opposition – boosted by Vaclik and Hammers Tomas Soucek and Vladi Coufal – drive on to victory.
Done well hardly played for Sevilla, but I’d love Woodman & we could give him Europa & learn under Fab. Newcastle will sell at 24 he is well experienced Coventry, then two very good seasons at Swansea. With 35 clean sheets In 78 games or so 20 last season golden glove & he is solid at distribution & playing out. Well round English keeper who commands area comes for crosses & could be our keeper for 10 years.
Surprised we haven’t been linked with Shick, Leverkusen paid £24m so he won’t be cheap but loved him at Sampdoria & he is well rounded but has very good feet & would suit our style imo plays 4231 club a lot & Country & works well with Coufal & Souček.
In definitely not against another one or two Czech players! Keep saying they are getting underrated by Pundits who had them losing their game & a lot not even getting our group. Might not have a lot of big names but they play so well as team & have great spirit!
And let’s be honest Randolph is crap. No brainer on a free.
Randolph is hardly ‘crap’, just serviceable by Premiership standards,,,
Sam Johntone is still my 1st choice at the right price.
