West Ham central defender Jean-Clair Todibo has labelled Hammers striker and teammate Niclas Füllkrug “world class.”

The Irons’ £35m centre-back has endured a stop-start first season at the London Stadium but has featured more regularly than fellow summer signing Füllkrug.

The German international is now showing glimpses of his quality following his return to action for West Ham. The 31-year-old has suffered two injuries since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. However, his barnstorming header against Bournemouth last weekend and his overall play gave Hammers fans a taste of what to expect from the striker.

One admirer who was more than happy to discuss Füllkrug’s qualities was Todibo, who is clearly impressed. “Füllkrug is world-class. I don’t think he has anything to prove. He’s shown everyone what a top striker he is.”

But Todibo didn’t stop there: “It’s great to have him back. He’s going to help us. I don’t think people realise how good he is. His mentality is unbelievable. He’s a leader.”

That final comment echoes what a former Hammers director of football Tim Steidten said about the £27m striker in an interview two weeks ago:
“I don’t regret buying him, I’d do it again. Füllkrug has amazing leadership qualities to bring to the group.”

High praise all around, and it’s clear West Ham have an excellent player whose ability and mentality are beyond doubt. If we can somehow keep him fit, Füllkrug should prove to be a major asset.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

That header was like a rocket, waited three month for a goal at the home end ,
My first game was 1980 West ham v Newcastle 1-1, since then Newcastle is my lookout games of the season ⚒️🇩🇪

Maybe make him captain. Much as I like Bowen, I don’t think he is a natural leader…..

i really hope he does stay as 1 of our strikers (at least 1 more please) and does the job for us. i look forward to Annette Markham’s
“i told you so…” comments on how smart Tim Steidten was in signing him

He was a handful v Villa before he went off and was the best player on the pitch by some way on Saturday. JLo didn’t use him when he was fit for some reason and inactivity creates issues. He is streets ahead of Ferguson and we should do all we can to keep him instead of chancing our arm with another forward. Not saying don’t buy another one but keep Fulk’

Fullkrug started to look decent before his second injury and has definitely looked decent since coming back. It’s the double injury that’s been the issue.

For another 7 games before he leaves the club? It’s a downright shame. However, them’s the breaks and luck wasn’t with him, or us, until now. So will he go or will he stay?
