“I Needs Players” Nuno Transfer Appeal as West Ham Stall Again

West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo has made yet another plea for the club to get a transfer wriggle on.

Nuno has already seen a couple of players leave the London Stadium, with two arriving in the other direction, but arguably the squad now looks even more unbalanced. This comes after the gaffer’s pledge to “re-balance” the group, yet he now appears to be appealing directly to the West Ham board for further help, admitting: “I need bodies that come in.”

After a flurry of activity at the start of the window, when Taty Castellanos and Pablo arrived, transfer talk – and the transfers themselves – appear to have ground to a halt. That would be fine if there was genuine progress behind the scenes, but Espírito Santo’s comments suggest not much is happening at all.

Paquetá Saga Holding Everything Up

The transfer request of Lucas Paquetá appears to have thrown a huge spanner in the works, diverting West Ham’s limited resources away from buying and towards selling. It is hard not to conclude that the Paquetá saga has become a major distraction, one that needs resolving quickly so the club can finally get on with the job of recruitment.

Sullivan and lady muck Brady have ruined the club and Sullivan will get what he deserves with the club losing millions

  • Jeeps says:

Shouldn’t have been so hasty with outgoing players.
Only themselves to blame for this situation.
    They get what they deserve_Relegation.
Sorry for fans and players who have no control over boards misguidance.
No point in buying championship players might as well wait for next transfer period.
Will be able to buy them unblock.

Yes we desperately need a CB and more bit it’s Favid Sullivan which is why we ate where we are .

  • M B says:

And we need a Manager. Nuno is just not up to the job. No interpersonal skills and a lack of tactical knowledge which is evident every game and he just stands on the touchline like a headless chicken while the club sinks

If your objective was to see West Ham United relegated, would you have done anything any different to what Sullivan and Kretinsky have done this season? Probably not.
If your objective was to avoid relegation, what would you have done differently? Probably everything from September onwards. Will we see any players we would be excited to see, arriving in the next 17 days? I doubt it, and most likely none at all.

Gonzo, are you trying to say that our world class sporting director/Chairman is not up to the job – shame on you!!!!!!

Were a shambles, with our senior directors/Board out of their depth. They have not got the skill set to deal with this position nor for growing a club/ business with so much potential. Ironically, Brady will probably be very good if we are relegated. A smaller operation where cost cutting and managing pennies is her forte (as opposed to growing pounds, which is not), similar to the work she did when first coming to us when we were on her heels. That said, she should be sacked for her part in the desperate situation we find ourselves.

    We’re nose-diving to the Championship

  • Chris says:

My prediction is he isn’t going to be backed and will walk…maybe this is Sullivan’s plan having given up on us staying up. It is so obvious that defence is the issue but here we are with no one coming in or seemingly identified. What a shambles

Which players of the necessary standard are going to entertain joining a basket case club 7 points adrift at the bottom?

There in lies the reason for the inactivity – simple as!

    • Spindrift says:

It’s a situation the board have allowed to happen by not having more deals in place as soon as the window opened. Instead, the club’s status has dropped lower and lower with the defeats to Forest and Wolves.

We could still bring in a couple of defenders that would improve us. But they’d have to be older journeymen not getting games or from the Championship. Like Craig Dawson, basically.

The one faint hope was a really positive transfer window with key signings early. Screwed it up already.
Only Sullivans West Ham can do this.
Really it’s just a continuation of the decline after how lucky we got with Moyes.
It’s an object lesson on how to take success and turn it rapidly into failure by not having professional people doing the critical roles based on repeatable processes.
What smaller clubs Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford and maybe Fulham do season after season. Not us – all based on an old man’s whims.
