Icelandic forward Albert Gudmundsson has become the centre of attention in a transfer battle between London rivals West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, according to CaughtOffside.

The 27-year-old’s impressive performances in Serie A last season have turned heads. He played a pivotal role in Genoa’s promotion from Serie B and continued to shine in the top flight. His efforts even nearly secured Iceland a spot in Euro 2024.

Both West Ham and Tottenham have reportedly initiated contact with Genoa to gauge Gudmundsson’s availability. They seem willing to meet Genoa’s asking price, which falls between €30-35 million (£25-30 million).

This isn’t the first time West Ham have expressed interest in Gudmundsson, suggesting a renewed pursuit of the versatile attacker.

Gudmundsson’s career began in Iceland before flourishing in the Netherlands with clubs like PSV Eindhoven and AZ. He joined Genoa in 2022 and has been a key contributor to their success.

One of Gudmundsson’s strengths is his versatility. He can comfortably play in various attacking positions, including central midfield, on the wings, or even as a second striker.

Former Serie A player Kevin Strootman compared Gudmundsson to a young Mohamed Salah and described him as “devastating,” highlighting his attacking prowess.

Currently, Inter Milan appears to be the frontrunner in the race for Gudmundsson’s signature. This means the Irons need to act swiftly if they want to secure the talented Icelandic forward.

But look at the mess going on with Kilman? The club has spent a month trying to complete this deal and still nothing. We must draw the line somewhere and get on with building the team or else we may not have eleven players to start with. 24 year old Kota is a fabulous player but he is not good enough for us despite being a perfect fit for the left wing where we currently have NONE!

But what is actually happening really? How much can we believe. People who say they have club connections, do they really, and anyone who did really know surely keeps their mouths shut incase Everton nick the player? And I bet newspaper journalists scour sites like these so they can pick up on something when they are light on stories, and so it goes in a big circle.
      …but I do keep checkin in…

No bids have been submitted 🤷‍♂️ Sounds more like an expression of interest “war” but they doesn’t get much attention or taken seriously.

When clubs start bidding then it might be worth reoporting about said “war”
