“I’m Not Fussy” | Lopetegui’s Transfer Hurry-up

West Ham Head Coach Julen Lopetegui is happy with signing either Kyle Walker-Peters or Aaron Wan-Bissaka. That’s the latest update from Hammers insider ExWHUEmployee, who has shared news on the Irons’ right-back search.

Given the difference in the two players’ styles, I had assumed Lopetegui would have a preference. Southampton’s Walker-Peters is perceived to be the more attacking of the two footballers, while Wan-Bissaka has carved his reputation on no-nonsense defending.

However, it now seems that Lopetegui is so desperate for a right-back signing that anyone will do. West Ham have deployed Kodua and Kaelan Casey respectively during our first two pre-season friendlies, and it’s fair to say that neither is a right-back.

While the situation is not desperate, it is quite clear that a degree of urgency is being applied. That is understandable given the length of time it appears to have taken to sign one of the two top full-back choices, particularly given that both are seemingly available.

‘Being linked to’ usually means either an agent is pushing a player’s barrow or a club is trying to get shot of a player. About 1 in 5 ‘links’ are evidence of genuine WH interest. Most are just stirring the pot until the new season begins, getting clicks for the desperate websites.

I thought J-Lo was the type of coach who knows exactly what and who he wants. So how is it that he’s now not fussy? Perhaps he’s frustrated with Sullivan and his cheapskate offers.
It also would appear that J-Lo is not getting as much say as we thought he would.

Maybe this also includes Tim Steidten as well because we seem to be linked with many players who do not fit his hidden jewel type. Toney and Kante are just a couple of examples.

Wan Bassaka for me, played well at left back as well last season if needed, let’s face it Cresswell isn’t up to it , so could be helpful…

There is a problem with left back position, if Emerson gets injured or fatigued we don’t have a rated player to cover him.
There doesn’t seem to be any plans for an addition in this area.
With Bissaka and KWP having ability to play left back presumably either will do.
No urgency, sounds like whu as usual, decision will be made at eleventh hour.
Keep everyone waiting and there’s always a backup plan with a panic buy.

Man Utd always pay their players huge salaries that means the only way we are getting any of their players is if we also do the same to entice them away.

Man Utd are no longer the club they once were. I don’t think it matters if they sell to us, even though we are challenging them for European spots.

It’s a buyers market with PSR.

Who have we bought directly from Man U in the past? I can only think of maybe Jonathon Spector or Ravel Morrison. It’s clear Man U don’t like selling to us despite us always being linked with their players. Maybe it’s because it would be too much of a role reversal for them to take having once been poachers of some of our finest players like Tevez or Carrick etc.
