And so the list goes on. Guilherme. Kilman. (Foderingham). Summerville. Fullkrug. Rodriguez. Todibo. quite a Summer, West Ham United. Even the doubters and the owners appear to have gone on summer holiday and temporarily disappeared from the chats and comments sections.

And there’s still more to come.

Last night various sources confirmed the last details were being ironed out with West Ham’s quest for the signature of Aaron Wan Bissaka getting closer. In the heady days of excitement over the last couple of weeks I have almost overlooked this saga since it has taken longest and – being Manchester United- been the most awkward, seemingly, of all our summer transfer dealings.

But with both the clubs needing this deal to happen and the Premier League season now under a week away it is clear that action will escalate. Manchester United have his successor waiting in the wings and must be keen to integrate him before next weekend – as Lopetegui must want to with his own rapidly expanding squad.

So I took a look at the type of player who might just join the list of new recruits in the next couple of days, before the ink is dry on the Todibo contract.

AWB was an Eagles superstar

£50 million exceptional footballer

Wan-Bissaka was the £50 million signing at 21 years old when Crystal Palace sold him to Manchester United, and according to Scott Guyett, then Head of Sports Science and Strength and Conditioning at Crystal Palace: “He’s an incredible athlete – that was apparent as soon as he came to train with the first team – and was the only player I’d seen who could consistently beat Wilfried Zaha in a one-on-one.” And on his pace, Guyett confirmed: “He’s quick, I wouldn’t say lightning, but is also very powerful, agile and has exceptional timing.”  And by all accounts an exceptional tackler.

One recent issue has been his injury record: A Hamstring injury amongst others caused him to miss large chunks of the 23/24 season plus of course he had the well-documented concussion last week during the friendly against Liverpool.

On the plus side, though, still only 26 there should be loads of miles left in those legs!

Would be the icing on the cake to see Aaron Wan Bissaka patrolling our right side as part of West Ham’s new look defence.

Like everyone else, lifelong WHU fan and season ticket holder in old BMU stand at Upton Park from 2003. Billy Bonds these days with my adult son and impatiently waiting for my Grandson to be old enough to initiate him before his mum grabs him for Man U. All opinions are my own very biased ones.
