If you have ever responded to those ‘Remap your Car Engine Management Chip‘ adverts that promise more power, better performance and improved efficiency, you’ll know there is an anxious wait whilst the technician spends an hour with his head bent under the bonnet before you have the opportunity to test out the ‘new improved’ variation of your hitherto listless vehicle.
Consider now Lopetegui’s Soucek re-creation to be a remap along the same lines. Almost like new, big Tomas strides anew into the box as he did in his first Hammers season, when he caused mayhem and scored great, awful, scrappy and sometimes gory goals with bandaged head put into the firing line.
Hammer of the Year 20/21! This was the guy we fell in love with before he was ‘Moseyed’ and turned in to a defensive midfielder who couldn’t pass the ball.
The good news is that Julen Lopetegui has re-created the Monster, remapping Tomas Soucek to create that ungainly second striker coming from deep to play off the number nine, picking up scraps and scoring again.
From the highlights last night on MOTD most viewers won’t have seen Soucek’s positioning during much of the game yesterday, ahead of Antonio as West Ham’s furthermost forward player.
A defensive midfielder no longer, Tomas could be back to his ungainly best. If this is the Lopetegui formula for success, then it is far cheaper than going into the market for another striker this summer. He was under our noses all along, just sitting in the barn with a dust sheet over him, waiting to be fired up, reprogrammed and let loose.
I see the one man hate machine on Claret & Booze is now hell bent on whipping up hate for Soucek.
Could the hammers social media community rally round and help this guy get out of his miserable life; perhaps take him out for the day to Clacton or get him the therapy he needs.
Please he is clearly suffering and needs help!
just enjoy the variety of news sites and ‘entertainment’ on offer as a Hammers Fan .. some of – as you put it ‘one man hate machine’s – melt downs had me crying with laughter
I really like Nick and I’m glad you advised on enjoying the variety available. Nick is knowledgeable on tactics which I’m sure adds to the source of his frustrations rather than accepting the status quo. I’m always keen to get his opinion and I’m able to accept that and not be put off by the rant that may or may not be served up with it. It’s only a YouTube video, nothing to be upset about.
It’s certainly entertaining in a car crash tv kinda way…..but I do hope it is for entertainment and hope he isn’t suffering 🙂
At last a sensible appreciation of Tomas Soucek. He was great until Moyes stifled him to allow Declan Rice a free roaming role. Even last season he was one of our main goal scorers.
I get really riled when so called supporters describe any of our players as deadwood, especially those players who have given so much in the past three successful seasons.
It didn’t surprise me yesterday that Tomas was first on the scene to help the ball boy, because he is such a decent chap.
Amazing!
This time last week you was all up to selling Soucek along with Inges and a few more!
Cough, cough. 😬😬 This is from last week.

I think you might b confusing opinion with reports Gav.
For the record, Ings is still for sale along with Cornet, Aguerd & Zouma.
Good reminder Gonzo. I’m still happy with my comment in respect of passing ability. Given the investments made it’s difficult for me to understand how not having the ball due to turning it over too easily will work.
The players you list haven’t been in the shop window so out of those only Aguerd looks a possibility. On the other hand there’s a certain somebody that’s been spruced up nicely to afford Soler(o) 🍦
Generally I don’t go for conspiracy theories but if you believe in the shop window it’s not such a long bow to draw.
I strenuously agree with that
He was well and truly Moyesed to his detriment as a West Ham player, and therefore the team’s detriment.
Fortunately for Tomas he’s a legendary top pro, will do what’s asked to the best of his ability, and the reason he’s sprung back into the Tomas we love is because he never changed the way he played for Czechia, very similar to how he’s being used now.
Never doubt this guy and everyone should be grateful (not aiming this at you) we’ve got him because he’s the epitome of a loyal, hardworking professional with a positive influence on all those around him. What a role model he is for our young players and new signings.
Yep, I’m biased, but he’s my kind of Hammer. I will be devastated when he no longer plays for us.
For me the entertainers that hate on our players, especially those on the pitch, are poison.
No excuse, support the players.
If you don’t like the players being picked blame the manager.
Moisey sacrificed Sucheck probably on instuctios to get the best deal he could for the now Gunner If our new man after spending this fortune he was given does as well as Mr Moyes it will be happy days
I’m sorry but Souchek hasn’t changed. He had one bad season when Declan Rice started listening to the likes of Souness and Neville and decided he needed to get forward and score goals instead of being one of the best defensive midfielders, the thing he was best at. Souchek was the same player last season as he was against Crystal Palace. The difference is Souchek was under appreciated under Moyes. He became a scapegoat because he was perceived as Moyes man. Something about certain West Ham fans seems to make them require a scapegoat. Last season Souchek scored plenty of vital goals and some people still wanted to slag him. I maintain though that Souchek hasn’t changed. Hes the same player we’ve always had. I think he’s an asset to the team personally and has been since day one.
