A remarkable picture has been circulating in West Ham’s media world, appearing to show Hammers’ Director of Football, Tim Steidten, involved in a pre-match talk in the tunnel ahead of yesterday’s loss to Tottenham.

The German head of recruitment is seen wishing the players luck and patting West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen on the back before the game.

Steidten seems to be at the forefront of almost everything the Hammers do this season. He is regularly pictured at the Hammers’ Rush Green training ground, on the pitch before games, at half-time, and after the final whistle.

His involvement contrasts sharply with last season when he was banned from the dressing room and training ground by former manager David Moyes. At that time, Steidten was accused of having conflicting interests, as he was tasked with hiring Moyes’ replacement while the Scotsman was still in charge.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Well I watched it on tnt sports and it wasn’t just a picture it was footage shown on tv as Steidten went from player to player as they lined up before the game.

Gonzo, who came up with this stupid title?
Incredible/Remarkable picture, why? “Involved in a pre-match talk” Well I guess it was before the match and we can assume somebody spoke, so technically not a false statement, just economic use of the truth. Google “Football Club Technical Director”, it adequately explains why his presence is not even noteworthy. Where the hell would you expect him to be on a match day?

  • John Ayris says:

He’s a senior figure at the club, it would be odd if there were no photo’s like this one.

  • David Moyes says:

Nope not having Stighten at all.
Look at the recruitment model at a little club like Brighton compared to ours, absolute joke we are.

I laughed when I saw the pic ‘Steidten has a big influence at West Ham’ and then saw him in the background on his mobile. lol.

This bloke has zero coaching experience at any level.
Get him away from the team, too many voices helps create the chaos we have with the team.

Maybe he can find us a centre forward, oh hold on he wasted 50m trying to do that.
Let’s see how quick he distances himself from everyone when the going gets tough…
