West Ham are being squeezed by a new bizarre and near incomprehensible Uefa demand that has seen the body ban Hammers fans from travelling to the match in Rapid Vienna.
The latest update we have is that the governing body has contacted the club asking them to sell no more tickets for the game – YET THEY HAVE ALL BEEN SOLD NOW ANYWAY!
How late on the scene is that?
We have also learned from the Hammers and Rapid Vienna that 1,000 tickets have been sold by the Austrian outfit to West Ham fans for the home end.
West Ham surely cannot be held responsible for tickets which they haven’t sold and this can only potentially exacerbate the problems Uefa are trying to avoid.
In the meantime given the Hammers have sole their allocation way ahead of Uefa seemingly becoming aware of it, the club has written asking what they want us to so about a situation which now looks out of everybody’s hands.
ClaretandHugh says: This is all utterly crazy. Does Uefa actually understand how a football club works and that with just 1700 tickets to sell it’s going to happen way in advance of this situation. Is any course of action possible available to West Ham should fans decide to travel? Answer NO. Are Vienna going to be punished for selling tickets to away fans in the home end? if not why not.? There are still many more questions than answers and like the club, Hammers fans should be making their feelings known to this abject governing body of European football.

If West Ham Fans cause trouble in Vienna or anywhere else it makes diddly squat where they sought their purchase from . An English man in Vienna having a punch up will be credited as a West Ham fan. period
