West Ham United could be set to offload striker Danny Ings this summer, with Southampton’s return to the Premier League reigniting their interest in their former player.

Ings, currently languishing at West Ham, was heavily linked with a return to Southampton in the past two transfer windows. Now, with the Saints securing promotion, a transfer looks like a real possibility.

Southampton’s manager,Russell Martin, is likely looking to bolster his squad with experienced players for their return to the top flight. Ings’ track record as a Premier League goalscorer, sadly not with us, makes him a tempting target. Martin’s reported admiration for Ings, coupled with the striker’s own wish for more playing time, suggests a move could be mutually beneficial.

With the arrival of new manager Julen Lopetegui, West Ham might be revamping their squad to fit his playing style. Offloading Ings could free up funds and reduce the wage bill (125K per week !) and a vacant squad spot for Lopetegui to bring in players who better suit his system.

Southampton’s promotion adds a new dimension to Ings’ future. While a formal transfer offer hasn’t been reported yet, the coming weeks could see negotiations heat up as both clubs look to finalise their squads for the upcoming season

Some managers get the best out of players but Moyes has this ability to crush the confidence out of most players by playing them in the wrong positions and with the wrong style . Almost every player would thrive elsewhere .

He was not suited to Moyes style. Don’t know why we got him. That being said he might suit a different system. Like it suited Haller…and Scamacca…

  • Pongo says:

He will be better for the saints than he was for us, as there style of play suits him better that’s a certainty. Wish the fella well he tried very hard in games for us generally but in a style and set up that just didn’t suit he needs to be part of a front two.
