Danny Ings’ position at West Ham United has become increasingly precarious, with the club actively seeking to offload the high-earning striker. The arrival of Niclas Fullkrug has further limited Ings’ playing opportunities, making a departure this summer increasingly likely.
However, the 31-year-old’s reluctance to accept a significant pay cut has presented a significant obstacle to a potential transfer. With Southampton, a potential suitor, unable to meet Ings’ wage demands, the striker finds himself in a difficult situation.
Factor in the rumour that Ings reportedly rejected a move to Southampton last month and the situation becomes even more puzzling.
West Ham’s desire to strengthen the squad and reduce our wage bill has created a complex dynamic. The club will need to carefully consider their options, as retaining Ings could hinder their ability to bring in new players.
There is evidently a clear-out happening in East London and Ings will certainly be one of the players highlighted for departure.
However, if Ings was to stay at the London Stadium it would be far from a bad thing. even though he has had a very underwhelming time at the club so far. The Lopetegui appointment could be the breath of fresh air the striker needed. Ings thrives on an attacking system with players around him to support and create chances for him, this is exactly how Lopetegui plays
Ultimately, a resolution to the Ings situation is necessary for West Ham to fully optimise their squad and compete effectively in the upcoming season.
No ****?
Wages are an issue for sure , however if we can’t sell him I agree he might be good to keep . His overall record is good . I think he would score more in an attacking set up . We do need to sell a player or two to balance the books I presume . As long as it’s not Bowen , Kudas , Alvarez or any other first team regular . Exceptions being Aguerd , Soucek , Coufal , Cresswell , even Antonio . Not sure about Mav I think he has something there . COYI ⚒
Spot on, totally agree
The Guy is Stealing a Living at Our Club, make life difficult for him, let him rot in the subs bench.
This is a pretty **** poor attitude to have towards a player that’s done nothing untoward against the club. Ings might not be the player we need, but he is a player we have right now. Get behind him, thinking a player should rot on the bench is just such a **** thought process.
Yeah I agree he never had playing time especially under moyes tactics defensive now hopefully the tide has changed looking forward to this new start coyi
Doesn’t that just make “stealing a living at our club” even worse. Moyes just messed with him and you could feel his confidence ebb away. The new attack front foot system may well be exactly what he needs. And I think he’d grab the chance with both hands tbh.
…..Danny Ings has a contract until 30th June 2025, which he has the right to see out. It’s up to Julen whether or not he selects Ings for the starting XI.
Ings, in a years’ time at 33, would be highly unlikely to earn even half of his current £120k a week from a new contract elsewhere.
This season I can see him coming off the bench, or playing in cup ties against the likes of Mansfield, Colchester or Crewe far more often than when Moyes was manager.
What an awful.way to treat a human being? Let him rot? He’s done nothing wrong and totally entitled to his wages. He’s not caused trouble, trains well, loved by the rest of the team
Not his fault
No reason he should take paycut just because we want him to
I don’t have as negative thoughts towards him, but the “rotting in the bench”, with the depth we have now, may be his best outlook. It’s quite likely he doesn’t even make the bench if everyone is healthy.
It’s not worth giving Ings away like the Zouma situation . One injury to Fullkrug or Antonio and Ings is playing , at least as a sub on .

Not wanting to drag up they grey Scottish ghost of the past but we have grown accustomed to watching a first eleven get flogged to death over the course of a season ( remember teams can make five substitutions per game). In Lopi we now have a manager that will use a squad and Ings is a good squad player in my opinion so if he can’t be shifted for an upgrade at a reasonable cost then how about just keep him
It’s tricky, but I feel much better with J-Lo in charge, and maybe Ings will if we can’t sell him.
Clear that Ings , like 2 strikers before him, did not suit the team’s style of play. I am hopeful he will suit this year’s style and J-Lo will know if that’s the case. He’s been good before, he’s been a leader and he actually does know where the back of the net is if he’s not expected to play like Antonio, and can play to his strengths.
Am hopeful for Ings, now what about Cornet?
On us for signing him and offering such a silly contract.
Why should he take a pay cut? Would you take a cut in pay just because its convenient for your current employer?
Make him play for millwall
I want him to stay as I feel he will thrive under J-lo and hopefully the new style he will implement, Danny is a natural finisher but needs the ball in the right area. Do that for him and he will score goals. He is one of the walking wounded from Moyes dross football we have all witnessed and not been given any real chance to show what he can do. Get behind Ings he could be like a new signing with a bit of support. COYI’s
