Injured Fornals out – Noble in at Old Trafford!

|

Pablo Fornals misses the game at Old Trafford and was always a serious doubt for the game after picking up a knock in the week..

It means the injury worries are building up at a crucial time  and the Spanish midfielder joins Angelo Ognonna, Andiry Yarmolenko, Darren Randolph, Fredericks himself, and Arthur Masuaku who are all at various stages of the comebacks.

With Jesse Lingard unavailable the immediate thought was that Moysie would call up DSaid Benrahma but he was left on the bench along with Manu Lanzini – another carrying a knock.

Instead Mark Noble joins the midfield and Jarrod Bowen returns to the team on the right side of midfield.

Meanwhile United are without Paul Pogba but Marcus Rashford is included despite taking a knock in the match against Man City last weekend.

UNITED: Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire (c), Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Greenwood, Fernandes, James, Rashford

Subs: Grant (GK), Bishop (GK), Bailly, Alex Telles, Williams, Tuanzebe, Matic, Diallo, Shoretire

It’s our 25th visit to Old Trafford in the Premier League and we kick off looking for what wpild be only our third win following two 1-0 victories.

Blimey, that bench is enough to strike fear into any supporter…… of West Ham!

What is Nobles role today. The centre circle ticky tack man.

If I was a technically gifted player like Behrahma I would leave West Ham as there is no place for players like him and Lanzini at West Ham any more with this manager in charge. I cannot believe he has selected Noble and Bowen ahead of both Benrahma and Lanzini, Noble is finished. Bowen is just so off form and does not deserve to start. For all those pro Moyes fans again you will have a pop at me as usual for voicing my negativity but this is not the West Ham I grew up watching. I grew up watching West Ham teams with technically brilliant players in players like Brooking and Devo. These great players would not get into a team managed by Moyes. Imagine Moyes wanted King instead of Benrahma, incredible to believe what a dour negative manager we have in change. He is also taking an opportunity to show how important Lindgard is to us, if we spend 25m on Lindgard in the summer (a player who cannot get into a Man Utd squad, we will be the greatest laughing stock in football.

There is a choice, be adventurous and paly Benrahma, or go defensive and play Noble.
Same as normal against the big sides, we go defensive which historically never works.
We may not get beaten heavily, but we always lose. Oh to see us go for it once in a while!!!

Got exactly what we deserved I am afraid. Shame as thought we would have more of a go given we had a week to prepare and they were bound to tire. Not a single shot of note is a bit embarrassing.

I never want to see Noble in a west ham shirt in the Premier league again. Embarrassing for him and us supporters 😡😡😡😡

Moyes tactics deserve a 0 tonight, he had the chance to be pro active. But yet again against a top team, he waits for us to be behind. Why not just have a go. So disappointed. I feel sorry for the players. Just clueless in his set up. Feel free to disagree. It was a free shot at Man utd tonight, we was expected to lose. When I see noble in the starting 11, it was never going our way, and Johnson was a rabbit in the headlights.

Was there any attacking play from the irons while Noble was on the field? I don’t remember seeing any, in fact I think I fell asleep in the first half.

Better effort with Lanzini and Benrahma on. Disappointing outcome. Looked like we missed out on a lot of free kicks from just outside our box too.

Anyone who continues to believe noble should start matches needs their brain examined. You cannot possibly think 60 mins of an athletic and fit Coventry, who can actually press correctly and position himself so as to make a tackle, is not better than that absolute cross turned in by our (no he’s not really) ‘captain’.
