David Gold is refusing to be downhearted about the club’s injury crisis and is pleased the manager has acted in taking the squad to Rush Green on Monday.
Welcoming the decision he told ClaretandHugh: “There’s various views on the problem but if I’m honest I think we have been very unlucky. The manager has made his decision and has our full support.
“It will be very interesting now to see the outcome but we all have our fingers crossed. In the meantime we have to get on with it and have a tough game in front of us today.
“This time last year we’d have been looking at the game in trepidation but we approach today – even with all the injuries – believing we can get three points.
“We continue to have a lot of quality on the pitch and as I’ve said before I now approach every game without any kind of anxiety. I believe we can beat anybody. I feel we can come away from this game with a victory.”
Injuries and suspensions were always going to be the problem – you can’t have too much quality and it’s time for some peripheral figures to take their chance.
Antonio will hopefully show what people are talking about, a perfect opportunity to press his case.
This is probably the strongest squad we have ever had,so much ability in every spot
Plus the youngest are coming good as well to join the first team squad
Oxford,Callum,Page,Can step into the spaces we need filling.without bringing back Burke,
Henry,Poyet or Samulsun when have we ever been in this position before,
Ginge will come back strong to try and win his position back or get a move in January
Jenkinson has got to prove himself,
Antonio wants the chance and now gets it,
Jelavic wants the same chance
All good no worries
