It is being reported by ExWHUEmployee that Lewis Orford has sustained a groin injury which has required the club to obtain a scan to determine the extent of the issue. According to the Hammers insider, Orford could be out for around a month which will be a bitter blow to the player who has just signed a new deal.
Orford was heavily linked with an exit from West Ham in the summer, and was offered to Aston Villa as part of the proposed deal to bring Jhon Duran to the London Stadium.
Then just days later, Lewis Orford put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with West Ham.
Mark Noble, Tim Steidten and David Sullivan played crucial roles in ensuring Orford’s future at West Ham United. At the time Hammerschat reported that late intervention led them to prioritise his development and reject offers from other clubs.
Fortunately, the results of Orford’s scan appear to suggest the damage is minimal and he should return before the start of October. Whilst the delay will be ahoying for the player who is keen to move forward with his career, it is a far better outcome than many expected.
“There have been concerns the injury could be serious however our club insider has reported that the scan results have eased those fears, with the player expected to be out for around 3 weeks,” said Ex in his update.
