Hammers Transfer Interest in Trippier Confirmed

A well-known journalist from the Newcastle Chronicle has verified West Ham’s interest in Kieran Trippier. The Toon right back is due to discuss his future with Eddie Howe after an inquiry from West Ham United, as reported on C&H last night.

Trippier has quickly emerged as an alternative to Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka with negotiations seemingly faltering.

Newcastle sources have confirmed West Ham’s interest. Trippier, who has been pursued by clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Europe this summer, has just one year remaining on his contract.

West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui views Trippier as a suitable addition for the Hammers, although Howe is keen to retain the player who was Newcastle’s first major signing post-takeover. Despite facing competition from Tino Livramento this season, Howe values Trippier’s experience.

If West Ham can offer an extended contract, which Newcastle has yet to propose, Trippier may face a tough decision. The 33-year-old, formerly of Man City and Burnley, returned to Benton this week after an extended holiday following his participation in the European Championships with England.

Trippier was recently seen with Thomas Spring, Al-Ettifaq’s head scout, but Howe downplayed the meeting, stating that Trippier was simply enjoying his holiday.

  • John Lattimore says:

    He’s 33 😲

  • Lokfaen says:

Not young, but still not off pace though. As a backup security option for RB on a 2+1 year deal would be fine with me if the alternatives are no one. He still has a couple decent years and is good both defending and attacking so would buy us some time to figure out the RB position.

Prefer AWB, but will absolutely accept Trippier

  • Peter the Dutchman says:

    This must surely be tosh??

  • mark wiggins says:

No , AWB will suit us , improves us immediately, Man Utd need to be more sensible . Let’s go for one of Man U targets to get the deal moving

  • B says:

While Trippier has been a quality player (Even if he did play for Spurs?) but his injury history and age suggest the time is passed.
    Don’t see this one happening.

  • Morty says:

I would prefer AWB as he can be used as a full back and right side of a back three

  • Andy Stone says:

Nominal fee and a 12 month contract would be okay but I’m not keen otherwise.

  • My left foot says:

Not keen on this at all, it must be a smoke screen to kick manure up the ar5e. He’s past his prime, which imo was mediocre. I think we should walk from AWB deal as well and go for the spaniard Martinez

  • Steve says:

Both him and Hummels I would rather steer clear of
Too old maybe even as a short term solution
30/31 maybe but 33 & 35 I think personally it’s a no from me. Maybe another one of Tims tactics?

  • Rob A says:

7M payout wanted by AWB ! Jog him on that’s ridiculous amount of money, Man U ain’t paying that to him nor are we

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Does he come with a free oap bus pass ? Will need some kind of motorised transport to get him up and down the line quicker than his current pace.

  • Jay says:

I really hope this doesn’t materialise. Signing players in their early 30s is fine, if they are still at the top of their game. Trippier is on a downward slide.

  • Bib says:

I hear andy carol is still available ‘and the right age bracket. Next year will try to buy zouma back..we are becoming a laughing stock

  • Ray says:

Echoes of Ings, Cornet, Scamacca. Trippier would be another mistake.
