Playing more minutes for your international side than for your Premier League side is a weird imbalance which Callum Marshall looks – finally – to be well on the way to fixing. Now that his Premier League debut is out of the way and his performance was warmly welcomed by both fans and pundits, he is hoping to go and step up to the next level.

There wasn’t much to beat, frankly, with Fullkrug’s tepid performance and the substitute’s energy and willingness to chase down opponents was pleasing to see for the last 30 minutes.

Like many Hammer players, Marshall heads off to join his international team mates for the next ten days or so: Two tough fixtures beckon with Slovakia first and then Germany ahead next week.

Callum Marshall is hungry for success at West Ham

It would seem that Marshall has further ambition for himself and rather than merely express relief at making a debut, he’s already analysing his own performance and aiming higher next time out: Speaking to the whufc.com web site, Marshall was frank in his honest assessment:

“I should have scored, (with my late headed chance) but it is what it is. Hopefully, if I get on again, I’ll put the ball in the back of the net and finally become a Premier League goalscorer.”

Which tells fans much about his mindset and also how he sees his future. With Nuno favouring the 20 year to Callum Wilson in just about as difficult a fixture as exists in the calendar, Marshall has likely been sent a message that more time on the pitch is headed his way. And from his evident ambition to crack the ‘goal scoring duck’ it seems he’s raring to go.

There is a window of opportunity for the young Hammers’ wannabe striker between now and the January window when resources are scarce and a couple of goals could make his career take flight.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Hopefully nuno realizes that we have a lot of talented youngsters! Because Moyes,Lopetegui and potter didn’t play youth as they were too scared! Nuno if he succeeds at west ham will be adored !!! The fan base are very knowledgeable and if they are on side then they are the twelfth man.COYI
