Ipswich Town – ‘Kudus Dropped’ Speculation Grows

Forget the pictures and reports published showing Mohammed Kudus ‘supporting’ Arsenal at the Champions League game last night. His friend and compatriot Tomas Partey was playing so Kudus was quite within his rights to support his friend. The article in sportbible.com suggests Arsenal fans were getting excited about nothing, showing ‘tweet / x’s stating that Kudus was there to support the Gunners. Rubbish. Ignore the Arsenal fans and their wishful thinking.

In any case, next Summer, if he keeps this disgruntled mindset, Mohammed Kudus will more than likely leave anyway so we’d all better get used to it.

A release clause of £85 million will kick in again next July, we were told, after the existence of the clause was  cunningly revealed ‘too late’ by West Ham for bids in the window just gone.

Next year, you can bet there will be teams better prepared. And if he wants to leave, let him. If Arsenal are minded to fork out £85 million for a player they tried to sign last year for £38 million, great, good business and we’ll buy three new players with the cash, thank you very much.

So, for The Irons, it’s a ‘win/win’ situation:

Kudus stays, happy and commits to West Ham, we win. Kudus goes-we win again.

How many dressing rooms have been split in two with disruptive players hanging around? Seems that Pep Guardiola gets it right with ‘want away’ players. He lets them go.

Lopetegui may well drop him to the bench: (westhamzone.com seem to think that’ll be the outcome against Ipswich Town). His form for West Ham and for Ghana has been well short of expectation and he either has to rise to the challenge or ‘push off’.

One player is not bigger than the team.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Last season Kudus was scoring goals regularly until Moyes in his infinite wisdom decided to start playing him on the left and surprise surprise the goals dried up. You’d think Lopetuigi would notice that and not repeat the same mistake but no, he’s stubbornly persisting with it but somehow it’s Kudus fault? Awesome

Nice post, I’m sure Mbappe, Vinicius & Nico Williams can’t wait to take Kudus ‘place’ at the left side of West Ham’s attack next season, hurray to the mighty West Ham

    I like you Ray!

Wow! Martin jumps on the anti- Kudus bandwagon. What bothers me about this post is the language and general tone used to dismiss a player that has given West Ham more effort than most over a sustained period, despite being constantly played out of position, and all because of an alleged disagreement with someone who has yet to show that he can offer West Ham anything at all beyond disagreement and confusion. Do we have so many world class players that we can afford to be so dismissive? Is it true that Kudus is disruptive, thinks he is bigger than the club, has been well short of expectation, does not try, should “push off” and that if he left, West Ham would simply replace him with three others? Where is the proof of any of that? Nobody, not even the current club favorite Bowen, has excelled this season and there is only one common denominator.

Maybe if he was played in his correct position you might have point

What is it with Arsenal, WHU won more European Titles than them.

  • Alan says:

If the manager can’t find a system that gets the best out his players, particularly his top players, I think that says it all.

None of Bowen, Kudus or Paqueta are performing at the moment.

It’s true no player is bigger than the team , is it not also true the Kudus stories have been blown up by the media . Personally I think he should be played in the right position to get the best out of him and for the team . He is a game changer play him , he will perform . We don’t really know he’s unhappy and disrupting the team . Let’s not add to media speculation. Come on lads show us what you can do . COYI

Big yawn…if we were doing OK, none of these negative articles would be on here ,we had a poor start so let’s put stuff out there to make it all seem worse every day . Ings ,bowen kudus getting it today.

I don’t agree that Kudus has suffered much from a dip in form. In the 4 matches I have seen he has been one of the very few players who have actually tried to do his best, & to get anywhere near his best. The others have been Bowen, Summerville, Kilman , Bissaka & the 2 goalies. The rest have been pitiful. Being played in the wrong position hasn’t helped him, but Kudus is still a very good player & should not be dropped.

  • Essexiron42 says:

Hang on Martin you seem to think that Kudus is at fault here. If the stories are true about the constant last minute changes about teams line up and tactics, playing him out of position, then taking Kudus off at half time then calling him out in the dressing room, would you and the rest of the team be happy? It’s pretty obvious that the stories coming out of the dressing room and the board then having to contact Kudus’ representatives and none of this put to bed in the press conference today will cause further unrest.

Dropping Kudus is not the answer, the issues sit firmly with the manager and his poor preparation, constantly changing the team and bewildering selections. When you say let him go for the transfer fee next season, who would you replace him with? Duran is said to have been a difficult player but look out how that’s turned out, at least another £10 million on his transfer fee after last nights world class finish against Bayern when he’s managed well. I agree every player should always give 100% but blaming the players when there is no consistent approach is not going to end well.

  • JohnE says:

    Spot on. Team first…

  • John Ayris says:

Kudus is being doubled and trebled up on, his answer so far has been head down and keep going doesn’t work. He needs to draw his markers in then pass. That’s his answer and the teams answer.

Teams will only double and treble up on him so long as it works. He has the skills so he holds the picture cards, pass when there’s too many of them don’t when there’s not.

  • Ess_Bee says:

For the amount these guys get paid they should be able to put any differences between them and the manager behind them once they cross the whitewash and put in 100% for the fans alone. I know players go through dips in form but they should still give 100%.

    • Robert Schmidt says:

If by, “win/win” you mean, “West Ham (Sullivan & supporters)/ Lose as usual”, then you have astutely identified this outcome. Pure folly.

      Dopetegui OUT!!!!!
