Iron torches his Sevilla chances

Said Benrahma is surely not going to be involved in the clash with Sevilla.

The Algeria international has been roundly terrible for some weeks now and was awful after coming on against Liverpool at the weekend.

The winger did next to nothing right at Anfield after arriving for the injured Jarrod Bowen.

Benrahma had 26 touches of the ball and only managed a pass accuracy of 71% while he was on the pitch, per WhoScored.

He tried two dribbles but neither of them came off, while he also failed to have a shot on goal, nor did he manage a key pass.

This was a downright disgraceful performance with the only feather in his cap being the fact that he made three tackles. For a winger, that just doesn’t matter at all.

Bowen is likely to miss this week’s encounter with Sevilla because of the injury he sustained but we just can’t see there being a scenario in which David Moyes uses Benny as the replacement.

It’s far more likely to be Nikola Vlasic, and we can’t say that isn’t deserved, purely because he isn’t as bad as Benrahma.

  1. Bit harsh on Benrahma., Vlasic -has been no better,And cost more i believe.

  2. This isn’t harsh on Benrahma. He’s got all the talent in the world but isn’t showing it right now. Needs to improve his attitude, massively!

  3. ‘Mikey’ Antonio has been similarly awful, for far longer, but I don’t see a post suggesting he should be left out. Hmm, agendas anyone? (Just a question, not a libellous accusation).

    • Then you haven’t read at least three pieces saying exactly that – eyes open mate 🙂 It’s also fair to say MA has proved himself down the years and like all players is having a temporary loss of form which is slowly improving. Not so SB

      • I have to be honest Hugh I don’t keep up with every article so if I’ve missed some that suggest Antonio be left out then I am happy to withdraw my comment and offer my apologies. Best regards.

  4. It feels like a selection of the Westham fans seem to enjoy having a player to hate on. It was Yarmolenko but for obvious reasons, he has rightly been given a pass giving his current personal situation.

However now its Benrahma. It seems so harsh to me, there is no denying that he’s not be on form, and needs to do better. However you can tell he’s a confidence player and lets not forget that in the start of the season when his confidence was flying he actually won us some of the Europa games by his self.

For me this is the time to rally round him and not single him out. He is a good player, he can do well for us. Lets support our players, not drag them through the mud.

    • Don’t HATE anyone – far too strong a word. But after two seasons and not able to make the first team at club or country level opinions are allowed. Don’t think he’s good enough. His position as a £30 million player on enormous wages surely dictates he does the biz without everybody being unable to express an opinion on his abilities? He’s not trying to pass school exams is he
